  1. Today
  2. Yeah the studio wimped out so hard by giving away so much with the trailer. literally made a fun movie predictable. Great cast/performances.
  3. I'm just going to say this one thing and then peace out of this thread-- but it was a shit movie then, and it's. shit movie now. I remember everyone coming at me 20 years ago saying the OT was just as "bad" and that nostalgia was the only reason I liked it. Well guess what-- nostalgia is all that's making people run back to see ab objectively bad movie. Also, I saw a TikTok yesterday of some kid who used AI to make TPM a vertical movie to fit on a phone screen and literally every comment loved it. I WEEP FOR THE FUTURE. GET OF MY LAWN!
  4. Yesterday
  5. I saw TPM twice last week; once on Thursday night then again on Sunday. I saw it at this old art deco theatre, built in 1937. The place has a lot of that old world charm. Few people turned up in costume. Many wearing SW themed T-Shirts. This was available at the bar, but I really don't drink much these days. Before the movies began, they screened about 4 old Star Wars TV commercials; the Artoo/Threepio smoking commercial, the Kenner Yoda ad, the ROTS M&Ms ad and the 1999 Pepsi commercial with Jake Lloyd. The lights went down and that glorious 20th Century Fox fanfare played right before the main theme. Absolutely no Disney bullshit in sight. It was fantastic and a reminder to what was once a great franchise.
  6. There’s Gen Z’ers out there saying the original GB wasn’t a comedy.
  7. 98 is a good run, but sucks he's gone!
  8. Did you not see the part about boys? Just kidding, this is the most normal week of school she has had in a long time. I do think that there's a little bit of new kid novelty that will wear off by the end of the year, especially with the boys. She's new, they aren't sick of her crap yet. On the other hand, I used to make my friends furious for the same crap in high school. When you're a tomboy, you can talk to guys about things they are interested in. It makes if easier for them to open up, and when you make it easy for them, they usually end up being interested. My friends had no idea how to talk to guys and they were always so pissed about the amount of attention because I was definitely the nerdiest and probably not as cute (at least according to their standards of femininity). Q is likely going to have the same problem. I hope she picks better friends than I did. She went to the lower team tryouts and did awesome, but they don't really have enough girls and she was the strongest player by far. She is the smallest, but her feet have grown 2 sizes in 2 months so that final growth spurt is coming. They might bring up some younger girls to make a team which would be great, because 2 of her Girl Scout friends tried out for the younger team. Tonight if the final night of tryouts so we should know soon, but there's no way she's not making this team. As a backup plan, I've reached out to the coach at another club that she did a lot of training with. She wants to see Q on Wednesday. We decided this team was too far away (30 minute drive without traffic) and requires too much travel (games in Idaho at least 1-2x per year). I'm also worried the coach is a psycho by reputation, but she has been really good to Q during their trainings and Q really likes her and is motivated to work hard for her. (I think Q really wants a female coach, fortunately the lower team coach is also a woman, and Q said she had a good sense of humor at the tryouts.) I may see if I can negotiate Q being a guest player for them when they have too many absences or local summer tournaments. They also play year round, so maybe she could play for them in the spring if she decides she wants to play spring after all.
  9. This Friday I’m moving to a new team and starting a new position. I went to check out the desk they assigned me and of course it’s set up for… let’s say someone on the extreme opposite end of the height spectrum. I might as well sit on the floor it’s so low. Obviously this is an easy fix and not a real complaint but it’s pretty funny how often I take over a space from someone bite sized like that
  10. This is awesome. There is more accountability, community, and greater ability to for everyone to stay on top of shit at a smaller school. I had a mom pull her son because I put him on a safety plan for bullying. She was like, "I don't like this plan because he will be under a microscope" and was all, "he will be--that's the point".
  11. I think Yoda is a great character, I've never seen Clone Wars either, but I don't think he is overexposed myself. I don't recall, did he appear in the Obi-Wan series? I'm actually not a fan of Grogu.
  12. Saw it this weekend, I thought it was okay. It felt more TV showish to me than a movie. The new GB movies just don't have the same humor of the originals but I guess they're not going for that tone. At least we got some decent screen time with Ackroyd and Hudson, Murray just kind of popped in there for some cameos LOL. I guess Rick Moranis is retired or whatever but couldn't they get Sigourney Weaver? I suppose there's no reason to include her unless she was still with Venkman. Also, did Finn Wolfhard just disappear for a good chunk of the movie? He showed up again near the end and I realized they hadn't shown him for like a half hour.
  13. Abigail! This movie was really entertaining but I have one warning if you have not seen it...Do not watch the trailer! It spoils a major plot point and even some of the scenes. All I will say is it is about a bunch of professionals that kidnap the daughter of a major crime boss and they keep her overnight at an old mansion until her father pays up.
  14. Last week
  15. God can you imagine the conspiracy theories if he does?
  16. The first week of middle school is over. She already has a group of friends, there's rumors about who likes her, and her new BFF asked her to stop "flirting" with the guy she likes (Q will literally talk to anyone, I can see how this would be misinterpreted by a shyer girl). She asked me how does she know if a boy likes her. Save me, guys.
  17. I washed my company 2022 Tacoma SR5 today. It got hit by a hail storm while I was installing network equipment inside of Texas Instruments’ new fab plant. I was fortunate to only get about 8 or 9 dents in the vehicle. Some people had their windows smashed by it.
  18. The Roe decision has been a huge win for the Democrats, they've won every single election it's been on the ballot since, even in deep red states. It's still a huge motivator for a lot of voters, so I agree there will be an uptick there. I also think, that as we get closer to the election, polls are going to get tighter and might even show Biden leading. So far out from an election, especially with two generally disliked candidates, there are a lot of reliable voters on both sides who are polling for third party candidates and as undecideds, as a way to "send a message" to whichever side they always vote. In the end, most of these people end up voting for the party they always vote for, even if they don't like that particular candidate. 1992 with Ross Perot was an outlier, and he didn't even end up getting a single electoral vote anyway. RFK Jr ain't getting shit. I'm still hesitantly optimistic Biden gets a second term. There's so much time between now and November, Trump is currently in one of his four upcoming trials (with any luck, at least one more will actually go to trial before election day, but who knows). An uncountable number of things could happen by then. With any luck the fucker will drop dead of a heart attack first.
  19. Well, I think the voter turnout is going to be overall less than 2020. Like Tank said, there are republicans who are just sick of Trump, and Biden hasn't really done much of anything other than not be Trump. For Trump, there will still be the MAGA voters, but I don't think they are as numerous as they were in 2020. For Biden, I think he is going to loose a lot of minorities and young people because he just comes off as old and confused and not in the game for them, and he hasn't really done anything to distinguish himself. The only people that seem remotely energized to vote are people on both sides of the abortion debate, and I think women who are pro-choice will particularly be driven to the poles given the SCOTUS decision on Roe V Wade.
  20. Zathras

    Yoda

I don't know. If he is among your favorite characters, probably not. TCW doesn't add a lot of value to the character of Yoda that the films don't already do, but featuring him in so many episodes, IMHO, served to dilute his character.
  21. OMG--everyone needs to read the books so we can talk about them!
  22. Hobbes

    Yoda

Do you think if I saw TCW my opinion would change? I have only seen him in the movies (I hated his appearence in TLJ)
  23. Assuming the election, like, happens — everybody could get lucky and 2007 FT3 wipes civilization out or whatever — I do not think this is going to be the lowest turnout election in 20 years. It’s a math thing so I obviously don’t feel confident enough to bet on it or whatever. But I do not expect fewer than 122,349,000 votes or a voting-eligible population percentage of less than 58.0%.
  24. R.CAllen

    Yoda

I think Yoda is great. He should be in everything. They should put him in all the movies and TV shows. He should be in commercials. He should be on Broadway. The local news. If you open the weather app on your phone to check the forecast Yoda should be there too. George Lucas should raise money online and buy back the franchise from Disney and put Yoda into a cut of Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope (1977) and then he should send vigilante death squads around to everyone’s homes to destroy all the previously released imperfect versions of the film.
