Guest xhado123
And I think the "light beer" tag for Guinness is about it's low Alcohol % content. It's 4.3% (I think) might even be less. 3.6% comes to mind but I can't e certain. One or the other. Whereas a Stella or something is a 5% wife-beater. Yeah, it's the alcohol content, mouthfeel, and flavour profile. All ale up to that point was what our lager-ridden society would consider 'Heavy', 'dark', etc. It's all relative, of course. Something will come that makes IPAs look inhumanely bitter... etcetera. Guinness is surprisingly low calorie. I have had beers with all of the ingredients you listed, xhado, except licorice. My new goal in life is to never try a licorice beer. I bet I would love the tangerine cream. And a local microbrewery in Lancaster, PA makes a chocolate mint stout that is to die for. My guess is that it would be good in a porter too. I can't tell you yet how it was. Gr.
The Choc
Guinness is still my #1 beer overall, it's just so perfect. And this is coming from someone who every summer goes on a trip just to hit different craft breweries along the east coast and upper Midwest. Darth Krawlie
You should try some west coast breweries sometime if you haven't. Between San Diego, Portland, and Denver you're bound to find several you like.
The Choc
I usually just drive, go on a road trip. Plus usually I know someone in the area I'm going to. I don't really know anyone on the west coast and have no desire to go there. I'm sure the breweries are good, but I doubt id be at any of them anytime soon. Lucas1138
Have you been to either 3 Floyds or Sun King in Indiana? Sun King just released a "King's Reserve" called Whip Fight which is described as a "bourbon barrel aged Wee Heavy in which rich toffee flavor takes a Burt Lancaster-sized twist with the addition of pecan and semi-sweet chocolate." It's amazing and tastes exactly how it's described. Incredible.

The Choc
Never been to Indiana, not really a known hotbed of beer. The only brewery I had heard of is that 3 Floyds.
Guest xhado123
There are about ten breweries in an hour's drive from where I live. All pretty good beer, and makes judging a bit harder, as many of those brewers are also entering their homebrews in our competitions...
Cashmere
I have only been to 7 breweries so far, but there are 3 local ones I've been meaning to try. I also really want to go to Asheville, NC and Michigan for beercations sometime soon.

Cashmere
We got a six of Shipyard's Gingerbread Head and I wanted all six for myself. Not overly sweet and NOT an IPA.
Lucas1138
Best IPA I've come across is Bells Two Hearted AleIt's certainly up there. It doesn't make it a point to hit you in the face with hops, like so many IPAs seem to think is the point of an IPA
