  1. So far, my x-mas shopping has been for....ME! I got these babies on sale for my car, along with other engine parts: https://www.edelbrock.com/small-block-chevy-e-street-cylinder-heads-64cc-5089.html Totally dumb and I almost regret the purchase, but screw it. You only live once, right?!
  2. So I got wasted and bought some cylinder heads and other car parts that totaled $1700. Something I totally didn't need. Pure gluttony. Total FWP.
  3. Whether you are in the US or not, It's good to have a day to be thankful for what you have.
  4. I still have to get numbers but when I moved in 5 years ago, they wanted to sell the house for $75K (it was brand new when we moved in). Being a manufactured home, it hopefully won't be that much, but if it were $75K i could pay it off outright. As I understand it, yes there would be property tax from the county. As for barriers to moving, it is mostly because it would be hard to find a house that is as equally affordable. Also, I am in grad school and will be travelling to Prague the first week of March, so I don't want to jump through my butt trying to move all through Feb. Plus, I like the house. It is small, but quaint and has everything I need.
  5. So I have been renting a house at a resort (manufactured home) for 5 years. The other day I got notice that they won't be renewing the lease this March because they want to sell the house. They said if I want to stay, I have to buy the house. However, while I would own the house, I would not own the land underneath it and would still have to pay rent. The thing is, I am totally not prepared to move this March. I am leaning towards buying, but I still have to discuss numbers, but I don't think it will be more than $75K. Theoretically, I could buy it outright and pay cash, which would mean I would only have to pay the rent which would be less than I am paying now for the land and house. Anyone ever find themselves in a similar situation?
  6. Feel the same way. I was one of those who thought that too, and so far, I am not that impressed with Filoni Live action, aside from Mando seasons 1&2. I mean I don't hate what Filoni has done, but I also feel like it could be better.
  7. I think the thing with Israel is this. Everyone was on their side when the terrorist attacks happened. They were victims of terror. But when Israel started dropping bombs on hospitals and with over 10K dead and who knows how many wounded, Hamas base or no, you have a disproportionate response at that point. That tends to turn people against you.
  8. Calling an ambulance and none available? Wow that is a bad day indeed!
  9. I never really played with AI images until now. Pretty impressed!
  10. Probably an unpopular opinion here but I think it is unfortunate that this Israel mess has distracted us from the war in Ukraine. I initially felt sympathy for the hostages, and still do, but I have no sympathy for Israel anymore. Considering they have killed over 10K civilians, that is basically the same war crime they suffered, and the Russians still inflict on the Ukrainians. Also, I see a danger of Israel dragging the US into a wider war, that quite frankly is unending, and there are no good guys on either side. Contrast that with the naked aggression the Russians inflict on Ukraine, where there is a clear good and evil.
  11. I went through something similar last June. Nygyl was diagnosed as terminal and we were faced with the choice to either put him to sleep or put him in the animal hospital, basically on hospice. We chose the former. IT was a very hard decision, but was the lesser of 2 evils. But when you have a pet for 16 years, it is hard to let go. I agree with Krawlie though.
  12. 10 to 0 Dbacks losing to the Rangers at the bottom of the 3rd.
  13. In my opinion it is. I like Enterprise. I felt that it should have got 7 seasons. It got a lot of hate back in the day, but I think it was more due to franchise fatigue. I think if people who hated it back then saw it now, they would then have to largely admit it is better than they remembered.
  14. It's been a few years now, but I talked about my Dad here before. During the last few years of my Dad's life, he was very sick and I was essentially his primary care person. I would call him every day or go to his house every other day to make sure he was ok. Sometimes it was like he had just given up on life, and wouldn't take care of himself. I would have to do a lot of things for him like taking him to the doctor, shopping for him, cleaning the house, etc. This was on top of working full time and going to school. I was under a ton of stress at the time. Despite my efforts to help him any way I could, my Dad would talk a lot about dying and being with my Mom who had passed away in 2013, how he hated life, and would get in moods where he would take things out on me. I knew rationally he was depressed, but when he would say things like that, or would even get nasty and lash out at me, I would secretly sometimes feel like he should just hurry up and die. I felt so guilty for that because I also loved my Dad very much.
  15. Wow. Still absorbing that post. So sorry to hear that, Tank.
  16. I wish I wasn't in class right now. I'd love to break out my Friday the 13th movies for a marathon watch!
  17. Weird. Then again, cats are weird. Mst of the time he is a peach, but every now and again the boy cat, Tobey, gets aggressive. I thought having him fixed would stop that, but it didn't. Maybe Cats are like people and just get in moods.
