  1. Buy Walmart+. It’s $98 a year, you shop in their app, select a delivery date and your groceries will be delivered to you on that day at that time. Been doing it for the last 6 months. Best thing ever.

My parents and family live in a rural area. The Walmart there, you have a lot of no maskers. But it’s the same thing where I live, which is urban. The Walmart’s around me have Security on each end of the entrances, security in the parking lot, and about half the folks not wearing masks as well. As a matter of fact, just last week a cop was shot in the parking lot of the Walmart that is a mile from my house. Walmart’s attract a lot of idiots for whatever reason.

  2. It’s always something different for birthdays.

BUT. When me and the kiddo go down to my parents for a weekend (about once every 2 months) there has to be one night to have cube steak, mashed potatoes with brown gravy, homemade Mac n cheese and homemade dinner rolls. It’s my absolute favorite. It’s pure comfort food.

  3. As someone who has no affinity for DC or Marvel, such as I never read comics, was never really big into the marvel and Dc cartoons as a kid such as Batman, Spider-Man, x-men, when it comes to the movie universe, I LOVE Marvel and what they’ve done overall with the exception of a few stinkers. With DC, the only Dc movie I’ve been able to enjoy besides the Nolan Batmans is Aquaman. Everything else is trash. Boring. SFX always look like shit. Even Aquaman had some questionable special effects.

I remember watching justice league in theaters with the kiddo and it was not memorable. Keilan, who LOVES superhero movies wanted to leave. I was excited and optimistic about watching this Snyder cut. Keilan bailed after about an hour and a half and I still need to finish the last hour of it, but likely won’t. It’s a chore to watch, I have to keep myself from being distracted because the movie holds little interest.

I hate to see anyone banned but this one was earned. A man doesn't talk to a woman that way. And its not about any one word in particular. What kind of man could talk to any woman with that kind of tone and harshness?

I could see from the very beginning when he started posting his dating nonsense in here years ago that he was a complete fucking idiot with women and had zero respect towards women and they were objects to him.

  5. I’m a Spotify convert. Jumped ship from Apple Music to Spotify back in September, so my stats are probably a little light compared to others. TOOL is all me. Twenty One Pilots is my son’s doing.

    40/M/Columbus, OH

Columbus has a lot of great things going for it - overall, the city is fairly young - we have a lot of universities in and around Columbus, including Ohio State, and a lot of people settle here. That's helped get some start-ups and such going here, which in turn draws even more young professionals. Our house value has nearly doubled since we bought it 6.5 years ago.  Lots of great food options, great parks, we don't have any extreme weather, or earthquakes, or anything. But I'm a little concerned about what's happening in the state politically - we have a solidly Republican governor who is maybe going to get impeached because people don't like that he's telling people to wear masks. Seriously.

You live in Columbus? Was that you on the other line talking to Randy?

anchorman is the worst thing to happen to this city. every visitor thinks they're so clever and funny for quoting it when they come here.

I felt the same way regarding myself and the Green Mile. My last name is Coffey. In 7th grade I heard that fucking line every single day of my life. Had no idea what anyone was talking about. Purposely avoided ever watching that movie for probably 15-20 years. Which sucks, because when I did finally watch it, it’s certainly a classic.

  8. 37/m/St . Peters, MO. Suburb of St. Louis.

Been living here in the STL area for over 11 years now. The first few years, I lived in STL County, and in those few years, had one house break in, 4 car break ins and was help up at a 7-11 and robbed 100ft from my home. Me and the ex wife had enough of that shit, and moved us and the kiddo to the suburbs. Been living in the St Charles County area ever since. St Louis County leans heavily liberal and St Charles County leans heavily conservative. The divide in the Greater STL area is pretty fascinating to say the least.

Never had any issues with crime these last 8 years or so until this past summer when my car was stolen out of my driveway. Was found abandoned and totaled in a derelict neighborhood in downtown St. Louis, about 30 miles away. Apparently they were rolling blunts in my car for the 2 days they had it because they had the cup holders filled with tobacco and clips from the cigarillos.

Im looking to move anyway. The ex wife lives in Ofallon, so I’m looking to possibly get a new place in that area. It’s 10-15 minutes further west from STL. Anything further way from STL is a good thing. Once my kid turns 18 and is off to college, I plan to move back to either Lake of the Ozarks or in a much more rural area than I am now.

I never really liked His Dark Materials, even the books...but I want to...do you recommend it?

I liked Season 1 of Jack Ryan...S2 became a bit meh.

Oddly I never could get into the books, either. But for whatever reason, I really enjoy HBO’s adaptation of it. It takes an episode or two to really get going. I only started to watch it because my son saw the preview of it on a YouTube ad and fell in love with the talking polar bear. So it was something we watched together and very much enjoyed.

  10. I really enjoy the Jack Ryan Amazon show. John K is so good.

I just rewatched all of Dexter. Hadn’t watched it since the shittiest series finale ever aired back in 2013. Seasons 1-4 are still the best you’ll ever find any show, while seasons 5-8 are very up and down. Really looking forward to the limited series in 2021.

Right now I’m watching His Dark Materials Season 2 on HBO Max. This is probably my favorite show going on atm.

When I just wanna watch something familiar, like when I go to bed, it’s always The Office or South Park. Also enjoy revisiting Frasier once in a while.

We kind of camped out for a Nintendo Wii. We showed up at like 4 AM? 3rd in line. Worked great. We got 2, one for us and one for my brothers-in-law as their Christmas gift (they were probably 12 and 8 at the time?). We picked a smaller store (small Toys R Us) instead of going to Target or Best Buy. Haven't done it since, but it was probably worth doing. My husband wants a PS5 but he missed launch day so we will wait it out for a few months.

I'm tempted to do a small Christmas for my kids because honestly, they have a room full of toys anyway. My son gets overwhelmed by gift opening and has a meltdown every year. Last year I finally convinced everyone to chill out and let him finish opening later instead of assuming he is naughty.

That’s not crazy. I would do that. So I went out at 6pm (I guess you can say yesterday now, it’s 2am here), and the GameStop a mile from my house already had about 20 people in line. Went to another GameStop about 5 miles away, and it was the same thing. So I noped it and went home.

I’m not trying to argue, I’m genuinely curious - if politicians wouldn’t create more loopholes for the rich, would you support any of those programs?

Are you opposed to them because you think they’re inherently bad, or because you’re afraid of tax increases for the middle class?

No it's fine, it's a good conversation to have. I would love to see an affordable or free healthcare system. My insurance i get through work gets worse every year. Obamacare sucked before Trump even got ahold of it. And it didn't affect the rich. it affected me. The middle class. it turned my deductibles from $800 family to $2500 a year. It doubled my insurance costs. All the insurance companies did was pass their expenses down to the middle class. Since Obamacare started in what...2012?... it's cost me $10's of thousands of dollars over the last 8 years. In general, i just don't think taxing is the answer for everything. Ender pointed out that in WWII they taxed the 1% 90% of their pay. i mean, that's great that it helped America, but i don't care how much a certain person or company makes, a 90% tax is just....tyranical to me. Is it just me? I mean look, Jeff Bezos is a piece of shit and no human should be 200billion when his employees work in terrible conditions. But look, if amazon employees were making $30 an hour, and their 'job' was actually a 'career', I'm not going to fault Bezos for making the money that he makes. But taxing the 1%, or taxing people more who make 400k a year is not the answer. It'd be like having fort knox print 3 trillion dollars and throwing it into the stock market and still watching the stock market drop thousands of points and crash the same day. Oh wait, that did happen. You have to fix the system first. Taxing is just a band aid. Same thing with free college. You have to fix the institutions first. It's inherently corrupt.

In regards to the Green New Deal.....i mean christ. Look, i'm in favor of more environmental changes. Global warming is a real thing. We need to get back into the Paris agreement. Green New Deal is ambitious. AOC doesn't even know where the money is going to come from, but she's dead set on pushing this deal that could cost what? 50-100 trillion? jesus christ, we can't even put a dent in paying back our $30 trillion debt. where are we going to come up with this money? Don't tell me the 1%.

  13. I'm worried just how far down the socialist road we might go. For example, our healthcare system is obviously broken. Taxing the 1% or people who make $400,000 or more a year isn't going to fix the healthcare problem in America. It's systematically splintered and corrupt from the top down to the bottom. There needs to be accountability within the healthcare system. How we change that, I have no idea. Taxing is a band-aid. The argument with more taxes is it won't effect me or you. the poor. the middle class. Great. What about the future? what about 10 years from now, 20 years from now? When companies and rich people find a different way to circumvent paying taxes? How long will it be before we're like canadien citizens and we're all being taxed 45-50 percent?

AOC seems to think that free healthcare, free college, and guaranteed wage can all be paid through taxing rich people. That doesn't even include the green new deal she's pushing. with taxes. Of course, i don't expect all of this to be pushed through during bidens administration. but i sure as shit don't want it to start getting traction either, and 15 years down the road, this is where we are.

  14. Ah it's cool man. Now i feel like an asshole. I really appreciate the apology and I'm sorry for absolutely going off the deep end with no restraint. It's safe to say that we're all stressed out and ready for this shit to get better soon. I've had to give up so many days with my son these last several weeks because of all the work. Working my days off. And then when i get home i just wanna shower, eat and sleep. I almost want to say i have Covid symptoms and get knocked out of work for 2 weeks, per our company's policy. It would almost be like a vacation.

I completely understand about the Grandma situation. Haven't seen mine at all this year, when i would usually see her about once every 2 months. My Grandma is 84 (on Dec 1st) like i said earlier, and she's lived a hard 84 years. Throat cancer, breast cancer, quadruple bypass heart surgery all within the last 25 years. just had another pacemaker replacement 2 weeks ago. Broke her hip last year and had to have a hip replacement. Our family internally have been saying for the last 2-3 years that this will probably be the last thanksgiving/christmas with her around, but she still manages to defy the odds and is still living on her own, with the help of my mom going over 3-4 times a week to help with things.
