I'm not on either side as I think they are both buffoons, but what Biden's supporters--and Biden himself--seem to forget is that Biden did the exact same thing to Paul Ryan during the 2012 VP debate. Granted, the severity of Trump's tirade was more severe than Biden's, but Biden is known for yammering and has no room to complain. If you ask me, I'd say this is called getting a taste of one's own medicine. I bet that medicine tastes absolutely vile.

I'm paying attention to what you said: "Biden did THE EXACT SAME THING"-excepting he did not. Trump interrupted more than anybody ever has in a modern Presidential debate. He called childish names more, he lied more and he wanted the last word each time. This is not what Biden did to Paul Ryan in 2012.

He has absolutely no control over his emotions. The slightest thing isn't perfect, he breaks down into hysterics, destroying anything he can get his hands on, screaming and crying, telling us he hates us and doesn't care about anything, etc etc, and it can last a very long time sometimes.

Just this morning, on his own volition, he wrote the alphabet, both capital and lowercase, for the first time. It was great and we praised him up and down, took pictures to send to grandparents, told him to bring it in for his first day of in class school tomorrow (he just started TK). It was the kind of thing, as parents, you keep. He decided he wanted to tape the pages together. They weren't perfectly straight. He destroyed every page, destroyed his birthday chain, and took apart some of Lyra's Lego build. Took about a half hour to calm him down. This sort of thing happens several times a day lately.

I've been like this allllll my life. For me, it's anxiety and nobody knew about it when I was a kid so I was never taught coping skills. Can you teach him how to do square breathing or approach it from a clinical anxiety standpoint? I know nothing about kids. I'd just smack him around more so maybe don't listen to me?

The new one around here is automated phonecalls from the dept of water and power. It's a total covid scam. Knowing people are probably behind on their bill, the recording sounds pretty legit and it gives you an 800 number to call to address your overdue bill. It's done well enough that I thought the call was real.

But because I hate talking to people, I went online first and checked my account. Totally paid up in full, next bill hadn't even been issued. Googled the number, and and saw that it was a scam. Apparently you call anf give up your account number, they can then steal whatever credit card you may use to pay your account.

I SO want to hurt people who go to these lengths

I'm not rolling my eyes at Marc's statement as much as I am that it's just very much part of his pattern.

He shows up, only posts in the Lyceum generally, makes some half-assed statements to be contrarian, likes to act like he's smarter than everyone, and tries to impress us by being oddly bipartisan (but not really). He'll imply somebody is uneducated on the topic at hand, or say something outrageously prejudiced, then when there's pushback he cries about how YOU DON'T KNOW ME or WALK IN MY SHOES or IDAHO IS DIFFERENT and proceeds to poke at people the exact same way he's claiming they are poking him. This continues for a week or two, then he vanishes for a few months, then comes back and does the exact same thing. It's textbook.

I actually had him on ignore, but the upgrade reset it.

well. Idaho *is* 'different. I'll give him that

I thought I had my anger issues under control and could come back here without it getting the best of me. I was wrong, I'm starting to get those old familiar feelings. I wasn't built for the internet. I'm going to hang it up before I become one of the people looking forward to a civil war (again). Enjoy the echo chamber.

why you always gotta be SO fucking snotty?

What the fuck happened to your country?

Newt Gingrich and Roy Cohn. These sleazesacs decided decades ago to start slimy politics by division and it's been 'working' for them since Watergate. The average US citizen doesn't GAF about things that don't directly impact his/her paycheck  (see examples in this thread)so they haven't been paying attention and think all of *this* happened in a vacuum. It ramped up very quickly once trump threw his hat into the ring. The Trump fans here got sick of being shamed when they told racist jokes and got admonished for grabbing their secretaries so when Trump came along, they saw an ally and have been thrilled to show us all how batshit crazy they are ever since

  7. You'll laugh but The Pointer Sisters' album Energy is a whole album of remakes and it's my fave. They did Stephen Stills' "As I Come of Age" with perfection and did a solid turn on Steely Dan's "Dirty Work", though I'd not call that one better.

CSNY/ Woodstock. I recognize her talent but have never embraced Joni Mitchell's singing style.

Clapton/Cocaine; he made it generic but the original was downright anemic

Robert Palmer/Bad Case of Lovin' You-I like Moon Martin but Bob put teeth into this.

Nirvana/Man Who Sold The World-not many could outdo Bowie, IMHO but Nirvana put an edge on this I just love

Talking Heads/Take Me To The River-LOVE me some Motown but they changed this beat for the better

Joe Cocker/With a Little Help From My Friends-this was in my face long before Wonder Years used it and it took me a while to get used to it, but WOW

    Bruce/Because the Night

    Urge Overkill/Girl, You'll Be a Woman Soon

You are, Reese and I got real-time updates.

OH - my dad got a vasectomy when I was a kid, and almost had it reversed so he could donate sperm to a lesbian couple. He didn't go through with it, the couple eventually broke up, and at least one of them remarried to a man. True story.

Not saying he won't.  I know all that is required is a simple majority, but I don't think the Senate wants to even touch this until after the election because a lot of projections show the dems will take the senate.  Those in danger of losing their seats don't want to draw attention to themselves and give another reason to vote against them.

Are you kidding? Their choice is 4 more years of Trump vs. losing the Senate. Which do YOU think they'll choose?

  10. "I know several Trump supporters, and even more people who don’t support him but will vote for him because of single issues, most notably abortion. "

This makes me SO SAD, because the issue regarding abortion is not and has never been elective abortion vs. no abortions, it's 'who gets to tell whom if they can have an abortion or not; women and their doctors or the old white guys in DC?'
