Skatetrooper
Ummm Zerimar, Who pronounces the gyro, as yee-ro? Just wondering. I say it as twee-lick, but that could be very wrong.
Zerimar Nyliram
Skatetrooper: Ummm Zerimar, Who pronounces the gyro, as yee-ro?Plenty of people do. It's actually closer to the correct pronunciation. All you have to do is role the "R" and you've got it right.

I think you are now my new favorite person on these boards. Although the gyro isn't "Greek," it's Greek-American. (Though apparently it did make its way back to Greece because they have them now.) Guest Mara Jade_Skywalker
How is Jaina really pronounced? Is it Jay-Na, or Juh-Nay-Uh?
Ryn
"Jay-nah," I'm sure. I can't see that being pronounced any other way with the way it's spelled. It's not like Jaime and Jamie.
Ryn
Then again, "Favre." But that's hillbilly pronunciation anyway.
Zerimar Nyliram
I remember this thread! I was just coming here thinking, if somebody says they bumped this thread just to say that it's all Legends now and pronunciations no longer matter, I'm going to scream. But nobody has done that, so that's cool. As for "Yuuzhan Vong," there was a video of Dark Horse Comics writer Randy Stradley a few years ago promoting the Invasion mini-series, and he pronounced it "yoo-jhan," with that sort of rolled "J" sound. Zerimar Nyliram
Wait, does Mara have two accounts, or is the poster above a different person?
The Human Torch
Mara wouldn't need to ask how it's pronounced. Unless she was inebriated.
Driver
According to George Lucas you pronounce "lightsaber" as "lazer sword" So there's the baseline of consistency.
