Loaded supreme court’s lead to bs rulings.

I think we need to go the way of Roosevelt (it's been a while so I maybe wrong as I often am). When Social Security was young I remember that the president threatened to pack the court by expanding the members the court could have to get the court to change it's opinion and make it so the Social Security Act could become law. Perhaps we need to even it out.

I also think some of the recent decisions including the one concerning the EPA were purposely ruled on now before the newest Justice joins the court because the split is going to change slightly with Brown Jackson being sworn in soon.

The dems could fix all of this. But I don't have much faith that they will.

Beto gets my vote in Texas because well Abbott but right now he's all words. I don't see budging on many issues for a long time. My hope lies in the fact that hopefully new cases will come before the court and be argued under a different tact that will push change. It all starts at the state level right now.

I will continue to vote for all the Dems on the ballot because "do next to nothing" is still better than "make shit considerably worse", but I plan to let them know that I'll vote for any and all challengers until we get in people who will take action.

I wish every single elected office had a term limit. Meaning, only one term each. New government entirely every election cycle. I don’t care how impractical that is.

Term limits. No political parties. A requirement of civil service or a degree in constitutional law or civics. Ban lobbying.

That’s the key to fixing most of our problems. That and quality education for the masses.

I would give two terms, like the president gets. We also have reps that are around 90, retire already! There should be a forced retirement age, make it 70 or so. I think SC judges should only be on there for a limited time, too. Come to think of it, I feel like the people should have more of a say in appointing judges instead of the reps. Like, they're put in by a specific party who have an agenda, maybe get some independent people to appoint them instead.

The weird thing is I think some of the people who went all in on radical theocracy are actually educated. I mean my Dad has a masters in computer science and  BS in civil engineering and still believes that the election was stolen. There's some sort of weird brain washing that happens somewhere in between schooling and like mid-life crisis?

I don't think it is about intellect. I think it is about meaning. It is the narrative that draws people to weird ideologies, and being a bit more intelligent would, if anything, make people more susceptible to them. They are more capable of making inferences and connections, even where none actually exist. Notice the kinds of intellectuals who soundly reject right wing conspiracy theories and fundamentalism. Do they tend to be woke, or socialists or critical theorists or postmodernists or what have you? If so, different variation on a similar theme. The right wing stuff is just unfashionable on most campuses, so those who believe in it keep it quiet.

Note that this doesn't necessarily make them wrong. Only that they appeal to a type of person who likes a broad ideology to explain things.
