Maybe I am an idiot

New registrations are currently turned off due to the porn spammers overrunning the boards. Are you trying to register a second name for yourself, or is someone else trying to sign up? Either way we can make it work, but I’m just curious what the best route would be. Feel free to PM me as well.

@Fozzie is there an option to toggle on Captcha for registration? Or are these real live persons that are registering and spamming the boards as opposed to bots?

We’ve tried the Captcha options available to us, and they haven’t helped. I’m still working on finding an option that will allow us to have registrations, but at the same time it’s low priority. We aren’t exactly in a growth phase, and we never will be again.

That sucks. ReCaptcha and especially KeyCaptcha usually work pretty well, or do we not have those options available yet because we're running on older Invision software? I see that the site is hosted at DreamHost. Have we considered using CloudFlare to host DNS records instead of DreamHost's default DNS servers? They are free and offer a reasonable amount of built in protections from known spam bots. They'll auto-filter certain source IPs once they are flagged by other CloudFlare users. Something like `fail2ban` might be an option too. It does bot blocking locally, once the traffic reaches the server.
