Everyone has invented their own sandwich. What's yours?

Welcome to the Nightly Cafe.

I invented mine in college - the Ham & Jam.

I prefer a hearty whole grain bread for this, but a brioche would be pretty awesome, too.

Ham (it works with any kind, but sweet is best), creamy cheese (I like gouda or muenster), fruit preserves (apricot, fruits of the forest, or triple berry are my favs).

That's all. Just stack it up and eat.

So, what's your sandwich?

When I was young, I invented the slamwich. Any normal sandwich, but you slammed the top piece of bread on it.

I imagine that could lead to a lot of mess depending on the level of moistness/sauce in said sandwich

Jelly was great, or anything with a lot of ketchup.

Chicken salad sandwich:

Canned chicken, drained

Cut up grapes or apples

One stalk of celery

Celery seed

Oregano

Mayonnaise

Garnish with lettuce, nothing else because it gets too messy. I used to really like whole wheat bread but my husband heard from someone who read a book that said its terrible for you, so now we only eat white bread. I'm not really complaining. My favorite is the Franz stuff, not sure if you can get that outside of the West Coast (or maybe even Pacific Northwest).
