Spider-Man
Its heartbreaking to hear these stories of how people are necessarily forced away from their loved ones. I mean, sure, every parent or introvert can probably admit that the base idea of getting away alone is like... sure, yes, please. But the circumstances, the uncertainty in it being a requirement to keep your own loved ones safe. Damn. I cant really understand what it is feeling like, Brando, but I can understand some. All good thoughts, vibes, and prayers.
Guest
The worst part was being in the hospital. The Covid unit is an isolation unit which means no visitors period. I really thought I might die without being able to see my family again. Fortunately I didnt, but I got to witness people who did have that experience, and that alone made the whole thing way more real.

Guest
Theres a conspiracy theory going around locally that the Trump Administration or campaign (in his case, same thing) did the testing and gave a false positive because DeWine hasnt been deferential enough to Trump. Guest
Also, I really ducking hope that my lungs get back to normal soon. Or ever. I get winded so easily you would think I weigh 800 pounds. Simple stuff like helping empty the dishwasher gets me. I couldnt even finish that.

Iceheart
Youre like a week into recovery. Hate to say it, but your body needs way more time than that to rebuild itself. You just need to take it easy and let your body do its job.
Guest
I know. Im quite an expert in recovery. The bigger point is that right now, into recovery, Im currently way worse than when I was hospitalized for pneumonia.
Guest
Theres also the reality that some people have permanent lung damage from this, and others are taking months to recover. And some of those people didnt need oxygen.
Iceheart
Number one: this is not pneumonia. I'd stop comparing it if it's making you freak out about your current recovery. As someone with permanent nerve damage, a week into recovery is not the time to tell if this is permanent or not. I know, your brain probably won't let you, but you can back-burner permanence for right now. Do you have a pulmonary specialist? And are you seeing them through this or plan to see them soon? They may have some early intervention stuff that will either increase your chances of a full recovery, or will at least make you feel like you're doing something other than waiting for God. Guest
Im definitely not freaking out in any way. Just aware of the possibilities. Right now, the concern is more my heart than my lungs, surprisingly. My resting heart rate has gone from 68 to 91, per my Garmin watch, which coincides with heart rate theyre seeing at my doctors office and the hospital. Its also spiking throughout the day without any exertion. Im not freaking out about that either, but its a thing thats happening.
Tank
91 isn't too terrible. I mean-- if it's doing it for no reason, sure, worth keeping an eye on. But you're not in the danger zone. I hover around 75 at rest as a person with asthma, some weight to lose, and medicated high blood pressure. Mine will spike with activity really fast to the 90s, but it drops back down pretty quick, even if I get strenuous. I guess the number itself doesn't matter if it just plain FEELS like something is wrong. I'm also the kind of dude that can spike my BPM and my BP just by thinking on something that upsets me in a matter of seconds.
Guest
91 resting, spiking up over 150, sometimes up to 200, while just sitting and relaxing. Im not always aware of it, but sometimes I am. Definitely not anxiety related, or thinking about things that would raise it. Its not like OMG Im gonna die, and it may just be a temporary thing, so were just watching it for now. But if it is still doing it in a few weeks, its time to probably see a cardiologist. Primarily because the effects of Covid can be so widespread and varied that theres no telling what it could do. Guest
And Ill also add that these things arent my concerns, at least not solely. Ive been in pretty constant contact with my primary care doctor, and shes helping me track and take care of it. It seems like its likely connected to Covid, especially since my resting heart rate, which my watch mostly calculates based on sleep, has been pretty consistently in the 60s for the past year, and suddenly jumped. Also, I am sharing this stuff in here as a way of documenting and sharing since most people dont know anyone who has had Covid, or at least not any major health issues with it, and I would really be curious if it wasnt me. Sorry for taking over the thread!
Destiny Skywalker
May just be the stress on your lungs causing the heart rate fluctuations. I used to do a lot of heart rate training and if you can't breathe, yes, your HR goes pretty high. Doesn't mean its not cause for concern, though, I would definitely ask for a follow-up with cardiology and pulmonary after you recover.

Destiny Skywalker
How is everyone doing with the 'rona in your area? We were doing so well and then I dunno, people started licking doorknobs or something and our caseload blew up over 2 weeks from 45 or something per 100k to 101 per 100k. That's just our county, it's worse in the more heavily populated counties or counties with colleges. (Major outbreak at University of Washington because of Greek Row. It's totally irresponsible to let anyone live there right now.) We had just opened back up youth sports and within days half of the counties were shut down. (Not really sports' fault, it was more that they have been negotiating this for so long, I almost think they intentionally dragged it out this long knowing they would be able to immediately shut it down.) Our county will probably follow soon, which is too bad for my kid as it has been her major outlet since June. Her school also just got its first cases last week. A family kept their youngest home for over a week before getting them tested and continued to send the siblings to school because they were asymptomatic. They finally tested the kid, the siblings got sent home and tested, and then they tested positive. Now we have 2 classrooms quarantining for 2 weeks, they waited so long for the first kid that those kids only had to quarantine for 2 days. The interesting thing is that no one else has popped up as positive so far, which hopefully means the masking and distancing protocols worked. But that is 60 kids and their families impacted by 1 family. Going to guess we see some rules about siblings change shortly.
Odine
Well the UK is going into lots of localized lockdowns now with outbreaks happening here and there but particularly in the North. I live in the South West which has had pretty low cases of the Rona. Although one of my co-workers tested positive so we all had to get tested too. Fortunately everyone else's came back negative. The whole thing is such a chore.
