Ms. Spam
From a person who sends me chain letters as they are still not using the internet in an evolving way. Thanks Rob Weiman for sharing this. Now let's see some justice being done. America is tired of their disrespect for laws in our country, time to make an example!Grounds for the removal of the Speaker of the House......................The signed address delivered into Pelosi’s custody wasn’t hers to destroy. Behold the consequence:18 U.S.C. § 2071(b)— specifically directed at custodians of public records. Any custodian of a public record who "willfully and unlawfully conceals, removes, mutilates, obliterates, falsifies, or destroys (any record) shall be fined not more than $2,000 or imprisoned not more than three years, or both; and shall forfeit his office and be disqualified from holding any office under the United States." While the range of acts proscribed by this subsection is somewhat narrower than subsection (a), it does provide the additional penalty of forfeiture of position with the United States.Let justice be done.So basically they want Nancy Pelosi removed because she tore a speech up. Dude. These people. I've tried typing a response that is not too snarky but I can't so I let it slide. I can't argue this early in the morning when it's freezing outside. You know, when he was campaigning, i thought for a minute it was all a joke and meant to get us to warm up to the idea of Mitt Romney. Have you noticed what the nation's been talking about for the past 2 days? HINT: It's NOT what trump said in the State of the Union speech. And she did it without saying one word. Ms. Spam
YES! Totally stop reporting on Trump mainstream media! It's a joke administration anyways. I think it would be great. No more press conferences. No more anything. Focus on the crap Senate majority. Let's talk about elections in non-presidential races. Let's focus on the fact that 2000 deported people that were sent back to Central America are now dead instead of living a safe decent life in the US. Lets talk about election change. That's my plan by the way. I plan to turn any conversation back as I troll NPR and other places.
Guest
BTW - People are talking about it, but you can't win by trying to go lower than Trump. Pelosi is as dumb as Rubio thinking it can work. No matter what you do, he will win. If you bring a knife, he's past the gun and has a bazooka. Democrats need to do the opposite. To quote Michelle Obama, "when they go lower, we go high". Nobody has really tried that against Trump except Kasich, and he was never going to win.

No, it may not have been childish on her part because it was calculated to do just this. If that's the case, I think its brilliant strategy. Hardly anyone talked about the speech and that has to have angered Donnie, at least. She changed the entire narrative for the whole country in one Sinead O Connor paper rip.BTW - People are talking about it, but you can't win by trying to go lower than Trump. David
Jesus Christ. Look, as a Trump supporter, I know he does some stupid shit. Watching what Pelosi did the other night, that was some stupid shit, on the same level as SOME of the same stupid shit Trump has done. Metropolis
The myth is that the Democrats have never gone low. Michelle Obama might have gone high, but the Dems have been hitting low for years. Republicans just never fought back. Trump is the alligator in the proverbial swamp waiting for his prey to swim by. Guest
Republicans hit back, just in different ways. Fox News and Rush Limbaugh are nothing but Republican attack dogs, and have been for decades. They also aired blatantly false ads about John Kerry, so much that swiftboating is a term. Those are just off the top of my head. The myth of the Republican that just sat and took abuse is just that, a myth.
Ms. Spam
It's basically because he didn't follow the speech that was written. She was reading it as he went along. I actually feel like Pelosi while acting out realizes there's nothing you can do. I get that frustration with people we argue with here or my own students being students. Temperament is EVERYTHING. Bush senior and juniors took it. Fox News has only been around for 22 years. Rush aside, conservative talk had been the minority until the last ten years. They say that Trump is the middle finger to the liberal establishment. He's more DX telling the Dems to suck it. What is getting the Dems so pissed is that everything they throw at Trump not only fails, but they look like they are out to get him.

The Kurgan
How many Republican politicians actually fight back? Reagan took it. Bush senior and juniors took it. Fox News has only been around for 22 years. Rush aside, conservative talk had been the minority until the last ten years. I'm reluctant to ask how old you are. My recollection of the political culture of the 80s and 90s is that about 95% of it was right leaning punditry attacking everybody who wasn't a mix of Ayn Rand and the Knights Templar as being "bleeding heart" "tax and spend" "big government" liberals. LIBERALS, damn it. Remember when "liberal" was the dirtiest word in the US political lexicon? Believe it or not, that was the case from the late 1970s maybe until quite recently. The Obama years, more or less. Oddly enough, the people most likely to use liberal as a pejorative these days are the far left - commies, leftypol, r/socialism, leftbook, antifa or the like. But a "liberal" was something you did not want to be in the 80s and 90s. You were soft on crime. You were soft on communism. You were soft on terrorism. Soft soft soft. You were for big government. You were for high taxes. You were for punishing success and rewarding failure. Yada yada yada. You couldn't open a newspaper or magazine at any time between the inauguration of Jimmy Carter and maybe the middle of George W. Bush's tenure in office without being inundated by the kind of sloganeering I've outlined above. It wasn't just Fox news. It was CNN, going back to the early to mid 1990s. Then people finally got sick of that, and atheism became the big thing. Who remembers that around here? I wonder how Basil and Drunken Master are doing these days, as an aside. After atheism, it was SJWs. What's next, I wonder? We got used to conservatives being easy punching bags mighty quickly. Maybe they had it coming. But that only really started in the early 2000s. Late 90s in especially progressive areas. Prior to that, the shoe was very much on the other foot. Limbaugh seems like a grizzled veteran these days, but back in the day, he was just one of many. At least where I'm from.
Tank
I feel like I have a unique opportunity to ask a question that I have tried to ask of conservatives many time on this board-- but maybe since we've finally banned or shed the worst of them, I can get a straight answer. The two Trump supporters here are people I know I can have conversations with. My question is, when you see Trump/the GOP working double time to roll back or reverse measures that strip women and LGBQT people of rights, or take away environmental regulations, or actively remove restrictions that keep billion dollar corporations from running wild, how do you think that is okay? I get fiscal conservatism. I think a smaller government would be great. But I also don't see why it's bad thing to want to try and help people through social programs or make sure we fight any sort of withholding of rights. Do you-- A. Think this is okay?B. Think it doesn't matter cause the other side will just even it out?C. Think that everything I said isn't happening and it's all just liberal propaganda? Or, so I don't seem like I am being reductive, is there a D Option I am unaware of? Any other time I ask something like this I never get a straight answer-- I always get Deflection 101-- "Dems did it first! Who will pay for it!?" Ms. Spam
I am not a conservative of any high order but honestly I think the only roll backs on stuff Trump cares about is if it has Obama's name on it he wants it gone and how can he make it easier for him to continue his business once he's left office to make money and cheat people. We're a tool for Trump and conservatives in Congress are going to use his dumbness to get super conservative policies through and stack courts so when people try to change things through the courts they will get resistance from judges who are not lax.
