Darth Krawlie
Ive been in and out. Almost every time Im in someone sees me and calls me back out, and I feel shitty if I dont come back out. Theyre extremely friendly and kind people, I just have some serious social anxiety if there arent people I know well around. These neighbors are relatively new and the kids know them better than we do

Tank
After the chores and kids r dum threads, I seriously thought this was going to be a thread about having trouble getting a child to act normal in social situations instead of setting everyone on edge with weirdness. And I was right.

Guest
I so really well if I'm hosting or if it's a small group that I know well. Put me in front of a crowd and I'm fine. Get me in a crowded place and there are statues that do better with the mingling.
Guest
My wife is the opposite. She has super anxiety about hosting, public speaking kills her, and she does great in groups,

But he hates hates hates crowds. He is a good schmoozer, in general, though. He's the introvert that everyone is surprised isn't an extrovert. Odine
Thing is, being an introvert doesn't mean you can't be social, funny, engaging and good at parties. I'm introverted but I'm very good socially, and used to party on the regs. I can handle the spotlight on me and I can take being the center of attention even though I don't like it. But I feel drained after extensive socialising and need to hibernate for weeks afterwards most times. Whereas extroverts get energy and thrive on socialising. Tank
I said for YEARS I was introverted, but once I started working in TV I had no choice but to be extroverted given that writer's work all day together. Turns out I can be extroverted just fine-- it just drains me. I actually don't mind social situations, I just PREFER staying at home.
Guest
Odine gave a great explanation. What you're describing isn't being extroverted, it's being social. The two are frequently related, but not always.

Iceheart
Ditto Odine. I work in freaking customer service, fer chrissakes. And Im massively introverted. Which basically means that social events happen on weekends and only weekends because I people too much between 8-5, M-F.
Cerina
I'm an introvert living in a house full of extroverts. It kills me on the regular. We come home from peopling and they want to sit around and chat or play games or whatever and I'm just like OMG PLZ GET OUT OF ROOM. I'm finally getting the older 2 to understand though. But I have to tell them that I'm tapped out and need to be completely alone for X amount of time.
