Darth Bane
As soon as I am in the budget range of shooting with overseas tax incentives, we're on!So that's the thing - the minimum threshold is $500k in most cases - and if we combine forces, I can access and allow that project to tap a 40% Producer's Offset - and given the strength of the dollar, we can add another phantom 25% on that. So, we could be hitting up to a 65% rebate in certain categories. I think you'll find we could make this work, sooner rather than later. Hell - we could start our own production company! Nightly Productions or Nightly Entertainment.... aaaaand now everyone will think we do porn.

Darth Bane
All of the above is a fair and appropriate assessment. Casting will happen very soon - please feel free to take a seat on my couch....

Tank
I'm about halfway through this pilot, honestly my mental state makes it really hard to work, but I am getting it done. My other pilot project got notes from the studio, so I'll need to tackle those next, then back to my script. I'd be sharing more... but NDA and The Mouse has assassins. The only thing making it better is any time hanging with my son feels like time well spent... unlike the time I'm spending on creative projects. Tank
I'm actually dealing with a 9 year relationship ending, I'm easily distracted by anxiety. That said, I know what you are talking about. I think I posted a couple pages back that it's part of my process to pretty much always stop halfway through something and go into imposter syndrome mode and think it's all crap. Odine
Ahh I'm sorry dude. That sucks. 9 years is a long time. Sending you man hugs and back pats.
Guest
That does suck. I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one to feel like giving up halfway through, but I can also objectively say that my stuff really isn't nearly as good.

Good is relative. If you can grasp the basics, with enough practice, you can totally do it. Having read a thing you did long ago, you clearly have the form down and have a voice. You can totally do it.
Guest
I'm not saying I'm horrible, but it's factual that I'm not as good a writer as you. That's not me putting myself down, and it could even be that we have the same base level of natural talent (or not, I'm okay accepting that you also have more natural talent). You've honed your skills over decades and I haven't.
Darth Krawlie
The truth is, Seth has absolutely no talent at all. We've all seen his posts these last 20 years--he can barely construct a coherent sentence without several typos. It's time to reveal the truth: I've been ghostwriting for him all this time. Just as I aliased as REVROSWELL for years before revealing the truth, I've been writing his scripts all this time. I'm ready to accept all your praise and +1s now. It's all in the mileage. Just got to practice what you want to do over and over and over again. Something like 10,000 hours of practice to master something. And even then, masters know you're never really a master. There is always someone else better to learn from. Just write more, dude. As much as you can. Guest
I’m going to disagree about talent. Even with the 10,000 hours theory, natural talent plays a part. I can write a research paper faster and better than friends with PhDs. Someone who spends 50,000 hours on design isn’t going to be Steve Jobs. Natural ability isn’t going to carry you, or make you a professional, but it can be the difference between success and failure. I’m overly influenced by the negative voices in my life and tend to think I have nothing to offer and give up on projects.

Or affinity for a certain craft, an eye if you will. But talent only gets you so far. It's the hard work and practice that makes the success, not talent. And any successful artist will tell you the same
