He's great. He killed it on Narcos.

Yes, awesome in Game of Thrones, but Narcos is a great showcase for his talent.

I'm certainly excited by the news.

I think this has the potential to be a good show, but not quite excited.  Basically my excitement level is subdued yet optimistic because I did really like Rogue One, but I can't say I was hoping for this show.  Never really even occured to me to do a pre Rogue One Andor show.   If they do this show in a way similar to Kyle Katarn in Dark Forces, back when he was strictly a spy/merc, then I think Cassian Andor can turn out be a pretty cool character for this show.

The cast has been officially announced

Those are certainly some interesting names. This is really shaping up to be good.

Hell yeah, anytime you can have Oberynn Martell, Apollo Creed, Jack Cates and Gus Fring on the same show it's gotta be good.

Meanwhile, on Earth B, this only-slightly-less-crazy cast list was announced ...

(Addendum : Yes, I too, am v. excited for the new Star Wars show, pew pew pew!, AHGHHIAH, etcetera, etcetera.)

Gotta say, I like the Earth A cast better, but on Earth B I was chosen to be a special fan consultant during the making of the PT and they turned out a bit better so I'm torn.

Crappy footage of the teaser at Celebration...from what I can barely see, looks pretty great. And apparently Bill Burr is in it, which makes me happier than it probably should.

The second-hand footage makes it look very Flash Gordon. I'm sure it actually looks great, but in this view it's funny how cheesy it looks.

I'm weirdly happy to see the devil guy from the Cantina. And IG-88!!??!!! (or an 86 at least)

holy crap that looks like the same model space ship that Jango Fett had in the video game Bounty Hunter!

This show looks badass!  Bring on the fan service MFers!

I think it's pretty awesome that technology has reached the point you can afford to have movie quality fx and production value on TV.

I've said it before, but I love the fact the Mandalorian in this show looks like Boba Fett from the Holiday Special.

I feel like this show exists because they knew they had an audience for a Boba Fett movie/show, but it's hard for Disney/Star Wars to make a hero out of an established villain, especially one with a history of continuity conflicts, who you'd have to read ancillary material to know he's alive post ROTJ.

The best way around all of that is to give us a new character that has all the trappings and coolness of Fett, but not the complicated history.

Totally agree.  I mean there probably is a way they could have made Boba Fett into more of an anti-hero, but it probably would have been complicated like you say.  That may also be why they killed the idea of a Fett film, too. Better to start with a clean slate.  This isn't 1983 where the only Mandalorian we know of is Boba, especially after video games, Jango Fett, The Clone Wars, and Rebels (BTW, good to see Dave Filoni is involved).

Who knows, maybe Boba Fett will appear at some point in the series as an antagonist, if LFL wants to retcon the Sarlac pit?

The Fett film was cancelled for this, plus the fact that Josh Trank royally screwed the pooch on Fantastic Four.

There's a feeling that The Mandalorian will turn out to be Fett. I kinda hope it doesn't, but I also think we won't know until one of the last episodes in the season for some kind of identity/twist reveal.

I guess its possible, or something like Son of Boba, but if there is a Fett connection, I would rather it be Fett as the antagonist.

There's seven minutes of the show on YouTube too. It's looking totally worth it.

Disney have already said all content on the service will be family friendly, so won't be MA.

Glad to hear it.  I'm no prude but MA does not always mean its good.   Especially with a film/TV series that started off as and traditionally remained PG. Star Trek Discovery proved that when they tried to be MA.
