Dark Wader
There have been interviews with KK where she said the plan all along was for the Emperor to return - which is kind of contradicted by Colin Trevorrow saying he never had him in his draft of Episode 9 but that kind of tells me they're going to paint it that the Emperor was pulling the strings the whole time. The Choc
I had a pretty stellar track record of predicting stuff during the PT era. I've been a mixed bag on the ST-- but I've also been way less invested. I'm not the spoiler hound I once was.I think with the PT predicting stuff was mostly just not believing some of the more ridiculous rumors out there considering that we knew where it was going. Metropolis
When JJ was asked about Ahsoka Tano he replied "Hmmm, Ahsoka, huh? Well, then youll probably want to watch closely during The Rise of Skywalker". Hmmmmm. Personally I think it will be a wink or a nod to a future television project. No cameo mind you. I think Filoni set up a future projects(animated or live action) with the end of Rebels. Sadly since any story will lie past The OT and possibly the ST, we won't get and Inquisitor fights. I would live to see that live action.
Tank
At first I hated the revisionist idea of the Inquisitors, but then I realized it was a way to work around the 2 Sith rule, which I hate. As tired as I am of inbetweenquels, I feel like there is a story there. One that ends with Vader crunching the numbers in confirmed Jedi kills and realizing he can finish up so he dispatches the Inquisition.
Metropolis
Eventually they will try a new story not attached (mostly) to the "Skywalker Saga". Even the better stories in the EU I could never see being film worthy.
Tank
Supposedly that's what Rian Johnson's new trilogy was going to be. It's unclear if they are doing that still. SW needs to do what The Next Generation did. Keep the continuity, don't reboot, jump ahead a century, tell the same style of stories with new characters. The Choc
I guess my feelings on the matter are out of line with many Star Wars fans. Their twitter account did a poll asking which character fans wanted to see most and the winner with nearly 5000 votes counted: Emperor Palpatine. Odine
Palpy definitely deserves the win. I mean the guy has been working haaaard for it 3 trilogies in a row now. Poor bugger.
The Choc
Random question: Where would this movie have to rank on your personal rankings of Star Wars movies for you to be happy? For instance my current rankings are1-ESB, 2-ANH, 3-TLJ, 4-TFA, 5-R1, 6-ROTS, 7-ROTJ, 8-Solo, 9-AOTC, 10-TPMÂ For me if this movie ended up nestled between ROTJ and Solo for me Id be pretty happy. Obviously I;d love for it to be much higher but if it falls right there, my new #8 then I''d be content.
captainbleh
Interesting question. TROS is the first recent SW movie that I'm not in a rush to see. My ranking is here - link I think TROS will end up between TFA and the prequels for me, but I'm never going to be happy about that. Guest
I have incredibly low expectations. If it's better than TLJ and Solo, I'll be happy.
Dark Wader
It's the least excited I've been for any Star Wars movie, and I've thought all the Disney releases have been great. I just really don't have any faith in JJ to pull it off. But if I'm pleasantly surprised then I'm happy. Â The sad thing is I should be nerding out over today - watch the new episode of Mando in a couple of hours, then immediately after start heading to the cinema for the midnight session. Tank
I always have high expectations. Can't help it. At last check in, I was here: 1. ESB2. ANH3. R14. ROTJ5. TFA6. SOLO7. TLJ8. ROTS9. TPM10. AOTC ...which stands a couple years later. I'd slot Mando in between ROTJ and TFA. I'm expecting TROS to fall there as well. Below that, and I'll consider it a semi-failure. Above that I'd be shocked, but thrilled. I know people seeing it tonight, so I'm about to ignore the internet for a few days-- I don't trust anyone to not spoil stuff. Metropolis
At this point I just have to like it. I've seen some comments from those who have seen it(review embargo is still on), and they are all over the place. A common comment I've seen is that TROS really un does a lot of things the Last Jedi did.

Lord Darth Hunter
From the early reactions Ive seen so far I gather that if you liked TLJ then youll be upset with ROS. If you hated TLJ then youll love it. Some say its a big apology for TLJ happening and feels more like a sequel to TFA.
Metropolis
I just saw a non spoiler review that said the undoing TLJ goes too far. I'm going to go radio silence until I see it tomorrow night. I want the feelings to be my own.

Some say its a big apology for TLJ happening and feels more like a sequel to TFA.My dislike of TLJ had nothing to do with the Luke stuff, so I wonder where I fall. This was mismanaged from the start. Mistake one, not having one voice plan the trilogy. Mistake two, let fanbabies sway the course of things with their crying. 20 years after the PT, and I still think they are terrible movies. 20 years from now I'll look back at the ST and feel what I wonder. zambingo
My dislike for TLJ was its stuck in the mud chase plot, the casino world side quest, and of course Luke igniting his lightsaber while feeling up Bens dreams.  Weirdly that Luke moment helped me understand George Lucas a little more, well, not that this could be likened literally to what he was thinking as who knows not a mind reader... but, I get Han Didnt Shoot First now. I dont like it, but I get it. Luke should not have ignited his lightsaber, everything else in that scene is fine. Other than that, I agree with Tank. zambingo
Ill be seeing RoS on Sunday, meanwhile be aware that spoilers are being dropped in random places on the internet.  As for what I got spoiled for, its basically just JJ deciding to put a mystery box into a finale because the mofo just could not help himself. Good God a Bear
I'm eager to see how Leia/Carrie Fisher is used in this final movie and if it will feel satisfying for the character.
