The Trump Administration 2017-

Trump says no and then a few hours later calls for Congress to pass a stimulus bill. He's already erratic and on medication that can cause mania. Nothing he says is trustworthy, and right now even less.

I don’t even play a doctor on TV, but I think Trump either has undiagnosed mental and emotional conditions or he is diagnosed and per medical privacy he’s kept the diagnosis to himself/his circle.

I’m not versed to know when something like this is a danger to the country or is still classed as fit, but it sure does feel like this isn’t fit and it sure does feel like a horse is loose in a hospital.

From FiveThirtyEight:

This was a pretty standard fare debate, which this year is kind of comforting. All of the expected shots were fired, and there were a few attempts to get some zingers in (but they were so forgettable I literally can’t recall any already). I can’t image this is going to sway anybody, but it’s the veep debate — it never does. I just enjoyed having a dose of civility and remembering what politics can look like.[/quote]

Why is it politicians all look like their skin doesn't fit them that great, like it's actually a suit and underneath is some kind of insectoid creature?

McConnell all day.   Watching either him or Pence, I seriously start to feel ill.

I don’t have time to watch the things I want, so I’m not giving my time to any of these debates.

I pay close attention to politics, so there’s not going to be any new information, so it’s like watching a bad reality TV show with contestants that you hate.

Anyone else find it weird that the Butter Emails Scandal was about using a unsecured private device for correspondence that was sensitive and or literally secret and as such those falling into the wrong hands could harm the United States... but yet now there is a movement to declassify all those.

Socialism means “things I don’t like” just like fascism means “thing I don’t like”.

Few people use them correctly.

The strange thing is people use the term "socialist" as if it's an inherently bad thing. That's fucking bizarre to me. Like universal healthcare, education and housing for the entire population is somehow bad? What? Was ist das?

I get that Capitalism in its pure definition is human nature. We should all be able to be rewarded for our labour.  But capitalism and socialism are not mutually exclusive and socialist policies can really protect the people of a capitalist society from getting utterly trampled by the system, particularly if said person has slipped through the cracks. If the USA had actually implemented some of the socialist attitudes, of countries like Sweden for example, it might have lived up to its promises..or at least its dreams.

I think that is a legacy of the Cold War.  Anything that is Socialist=Soviet=Communist=bad.  The Republicans have exploited that since at least Nixon, in order to scare voters into voting for them.  But really, now that we are coming up on 2 generations since the collapse of the USSR and Soviet block, and with China communist in name only (hell, there is a case to be made that they are more capitalist than the US in some ways), the term Socialism as a negative has lost its meaning.  Except for big business and the top 1%, of course, that is scared of it not because Socialism is evil, but because it means higher taxes (as if they couldn't afford the taxes).  That, and the Trump-bots out there voting against their own self interest, that is.

I think that part of the issue is that Nazi has a very specific meaning. Words like socialist and fascist don't, which is why they're both taken more seriously and constantly used incorrectly.
