The Trump Administration 2017-

I don't watch awards shows anymore because I've become so detached from the product. There is no point in watching the Oscars because I usually haven't seen any of the movies nominated. I've stopped watching the Grammys because I don't listen to pop music anymore, so I have no clue who the hell some of these artists are. The last few weeks I kept asking myself after watching commercials "Who the hell is Cardi B?" Point is I wasn't going to watch no matter what because it just doesn't interest me anymore. I was however waiting afterwards to see what Trump jokes or anti Trump thing and of course they couldn't help themselves. Now I'm actually a fan of stuff that's funny, so I can laugh at Trump if it's funny. Thing is it's not that funny. I heard an opinion that the reason Trump comedy usually falls flat is because the stuff Trump does himself is unintentionally funny and it's better than the stuff put it there to mock him. There is a lot of truth to that. Dragging out Hilary again? The entertainment industry truly can't come up with anything original.

As a member of the entertainment industry I can tell you the blame is on the masses for not supporting original content.

And because you're a white male we all believe you are complicit with everything that is wrong with the sleazy Hollywood culture. :p

Seriously though, what I'm talking about is that if you're going to rail on Trump(and it's kind of a given at these awards shows), at least be funny. You had time and I thought they'd have good enough writers to come up with something. Bringing out the person who LOST to Trump not good writing.

That's an excellent point. As much shit as the liberal media gets, the bottom line is that Hollywood is a business and they're onlnly going to produce films that will make money. There is no agenda, there are just dollars and cents.

I do think they're in a bit of a bind, though, because there's only so many people that look good in spandex.

As for the masses it's hard for me to accept that they just accept pure crap. That seems to be what sells. I'm sure one could argue that it's just a generational thing and that I'm an old fart but I can't remember the last time I was fully entertained by a movie. At best they're cute, at worst I'm glad I don't own a gun.

Okay, Tex, give me an example of one media person who beats the same drum beat as say Hannity or Rush where it's never a far cry from a GOP position. I mean maybe Rachel Maddow? Where does the persecution complex of emasculated white males end? When Rush takes that final oxi-overdose?

The reason that the Democrats can't get anything done is because they can't get a message across of complete lock step.

I find it interesting that in Boerne and Kerrville right now the election cycle is in full swing and all the signs around town say stuff like VOTE DAVE PARENT CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICAN. They are trying to distance themselves from Trump never using his name and being careful not to be confused with a radical contingent of the GOP right now. I've been to a few local meet and greets. But mostly because we do not have any local Democratic party member wanting to run. The ballots will basically offer GOP or GTFO.

Trickle down is just that: a trickle. About a week ago, I saw a news segment (can't remember which channel as I was channel surfing), that was discussing how Trump's proposal for tax cuts are already having an "effect," and cited Disney. All 130,000 Disney employees were getting a $1000 bonus because the corporate taxes went from around 35% to 28%. So, while Disney is saving literally hundreds of millions in taxes, they throw a bone of $130,000 to their employees. That isn't even $20 per pay check, and that is before taxes. That's trickle down for you.

$130 million is a rather sizable chunk of change.

It's not just entertainment. Lazy and irresponsible consumers are ruining everything from porn to politics.

Maybe it's because I don't watch porn like I used to, but is there really a drop in quality?

I don't watch much myself. Last time the wife was out of town I decided to browse, the first page of videos had a son/mother, a brother/sister, and a step-father/step-daughter. I didn't feel like touching myself anymore.

Not if you consider the same thin/athletic blonde women (that a 15 year old boy fancies) with no pubes going through the same old motions whilst moaning extravagantly as they are being drilled by the same faceless male {insert gendered person here} interesting.

Mainstream porn is like the ****ing music industry. Its disgusting. Seriously. As much soul as a Taylor Swift album.

And who's got the time to search for the niche stuff these days? What a chore. Its German or nothing basically... and there is only so much of that the human mind can take. Not for me. I miss the days of the old wank-mag. At least my imagination was (and still is..I hope) erotic.

How are we feeling about this whole Russia-Trump collusion story these days? Anybody changed their minds?

I feel exactly the same way I did from the beginning. Hillary made dirty deals all over the place. She is guilty of many crimes, indisputably. The FBI and DOJ decided they didn't care about her crimes. Trump had an investigation started against him for something that isn't even a crime. They used a dossier acquired by colluding with Russians (the "crime" he is under investigation for) to justify that investigation. I hate the ****ing clown, but I'm not willing to throw out the Constitution to get rid of him.

What Hillary did, or didn’t do should have no bearing on what Trump did or didn’t do.

If you’re suspected of a murder you don’t get to use “but my neighbor killed his wife and he got away with it” as a defense.

Whatever they do to counter ths it better be good. Right now it appears that they launched a counter intelligence investigation against a presidential candidate based on that ridiculous dossier with funding provided by Hillary Clinton. Yikes

While I don't find the memo to be quite the smoking gun that others do, the Dems are going to have to work hard to come out ahead on this one.

I love that since Trump took office politicians and their hypocrisy has been on display. If you watch enough you see that these guys flip in a matter of days now as opposed to years. Both sides. I do get a kick out of seeing the Dems complain about the memo calling it partisan, and tell us to wait until they release their memo. Yeah.
