People were dying for him to be Bond and he ended up being one of the worst ones in my opinion. I NEED Idris Elba to be Bond.

ANyway-- X-Men.

The New Mutants is going to be a movie that leans toward horror. Curious to see if they stick to the plan and tie them to Cable instead Chuck.

I didn't even hear of Idris Elba being in the running for Bond. Interesting. He could definitely pull it off.

But, back to Xmen, Idris Elba would make an AWESOME Bishop. And if you want star power in the X films to make up for the loss of Jackman,he's got it! I know Bishop was already in DOFP, but doesn't mean you can't recast. And THAT Bishop was killed, and presumed killed again in that DOFP.

But since he is cast as Heimdall, I wouldn't be surprised if there was something in his contract preventing him from appearing in X films. I know Chris Evans was Johnny Storm before Cap, and Ryan Reynolds was Goof Lantern after and before Deadpool, but both cases, those movies flopped.

Thanos is now Cable...

I do t know that Bishop as a character could lead a franchise. He's a 90s guy known by 90s x-fans, not a long lasting legacy character... though I suppose technically so is Dead Pool...

I agree, except if you had a really good actor like Idris Elba, and reinvent/update Bishop, it definitely can work. Bishop is basically started out as a similar character to Reese from Terminator. There's tons of stuff that can be done with him, like tying multiple timelines together, much like they already have done with Wolvie.

I'm not getting the Idris Elba love. Did he have a breakthrough role somewhere when I wasn't looking? Lately, I'm more familiar with him as being on Disney's voice actor speed dial right next to Alan Tudyk. While he does sound like a solid casting choice for Bishop, building a movie around him in that role isn't a movie that leaps out at me. Bishop's pretty low in my comic book adaptation potential tiers.

For most people probably "The Wire". Elba as Bond does nothing for the franchise of the movie isn't good. Was it Daniel Craig alone or the fact that Casino Royale was a good movie?

Did that really make him a star though? I don't think so, and it's been over a dozen years since he was on that show. It just seems he's been mostly doing supporting roles and small films and series and suddenly his name got hot out of nowhere and he keeps getting mentioned for these big parts. It feels more like an internet thing.

Craig's always been a "he's okay" Bond for me. I actually preferred Pierce Brosnan. I thought his last couple of movies let him down more than Brosnan failed. Craig felt more like he was cast in a role that any number of actors could have done just as well more than that he assumed an iconic mantle.

Also, for the life of me I'll never understand how Skyfall got so much love.

Craig is okay, but all his films have been terrible outside of Casino Royale.

As for Elba-- The Wire, Pacific Rim, Thor, The Gunslinger, Luthor, Beasts of No Nation-- dude is killer.

Every one of those, plus I really liked Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom Definitely not a block buster, but if anyone was asking for an example where Elba could act, and do it well, IMHO, that is the role to cite.

I also liked him in Prometheus as Janek, and as Krall in Star Trek Beyond. Like those movies or not, but his small parts in both films are great.
