Poe Dameron Posted December 16, 2016 Share Posted December 16, 2016 I wonder how much of this is confirmed and how much of it is assumption. Yeah, some of it is definitely inspired by the paintings. But stuff like the shot of the girl's butt wearing panties (I've seen a few of those shots elsewhere...) or some of the house shots like the Exorcist seem like reaches unless the director specifically said that's what they were going for. Odine Posted December 16, 2016 Share Posted December 16, 2016 Composition of shots in film are always meticulous and purposeful. Lighting is purposeful. Nothing is left to chance. Before a film is made lots of artists will story board, do mood boards, pre visualisation (for FX shots) to make sure that before shooting begins everyone knows what it's gonna look like. And sorting out the composition of shots is one of the most important things. The artists who work all that out of course are going to be influenced by the masters of old, who knew composition better than anyone else.
