It's out today and impressions online seem very favorable! I'm quite excited. Modern "realistic" shooters bore the crap out of me, battlefield, call of duty, are banal in the worst way possible IMO. So I am SUPER excited for the prospect of fast-paced, ridiculous, 90s style ultra-violence.

I used to love Doom, and later Quake 1,2, and 3 arena. They were the hight of my teenage gaming obsession, before the great gaming lull of my 20s. They were dark, gory, scary, violent and propelled by heavy metal/industrial music. Like an inhabitable, interactive 2000AD comic.
So now that DooM has returned, in potentially classic style, I'm exited. Just need to wait a few days for reviews and the download. Feeling rather nostelgic. I sure hope it doesn't suck, and can hold it's head high. Anyone else?

Yeah DooM kept as close to the original style as possible with just updated graphics would be awesome.  Now, if we can get them to do the same treatment to Duke Nukem Total Meltdown.

Upon further reviews seems single player is sweet but multiplayer is a dog. Think I'm gonna wait for the price to come down a bit, then I'm in.
