Also, on the Falcon, notice the apparent lack of a satellite dish.

and forward mandible is enclosed, too.

There's going to be ultra fanboy complaints that the Falcon is different from it's ROTS cameo. I'll take a clever redesign over an easter egg in a bad movie any day.

That shot was so brief and so tiny, how could one tell, anyway?

Im not so sure that Han is gonna win that ship in a card game. Here is my thinking. If Han does win the ship in the movie, which seems likely, it's going to be a major moment in the movie. Like it can't just be some quickie hand of cards and he wins it. It would seemingly have to be like a somewhat long game that is drawn out for drama. Just don't know if that works in Star Wars. Card games can be incredibly dramatic in movies for sure, but Im just not sure about it here. For one it would be a fictional game, unless we get some sort of tutorial in the rules of the game it will be hard for viewers to really know whats going on and for the tension to build. In Casino Royale you can see the hands develop and most people know enough about poker to ascertain whats going on. Not sure that can be the case here.

I think he could win it in a more actiony sort of way. Like maybe a race between the two, maybe Lando dares him to do something and he does it. Maybe Han says he can make the Kessel Run in 12 parsecs and Lando is like "thats impossible, if you make the Kessel in 12 parsecs you can have the ship" Never thinking it could happen but then when Han pulls it off he has to keep his word.

Im not saying that Im against it being a card game or that I don't want that. Just not 100% sure thats how it will go.

It must have been very early, cause I knew it.

I feel like Choc is close to the mark. Theres going to be a job, Han has some supportive role, Lando is supposed to be the wheelman.

They have a friendly rivalry that gets heated and turns into a bet.

I didnt even know it was in ROTS. Maybe I did at the time

Yeah it was an Easter Egg. Blink and you miss it, and even then, nothing says it was the actual Falcon. Could just as easily be another ship of the same model.

Also, the "Falcon" was also in Star Trek First Contact, during the Battle of Sector 001. ILM did the FX for the film and put the Falcon in the scene for a few frames.

We don't really need to know the rules of Sabacc to show it being played on screen. Heck, I bet a large chunk of an audience sometimes doesn't know the rules of real life card and table games when watching movies taking place here but we still understand the stakes and the outcome of the bets. We already have a SW canon example:

Huh, that does seem vaguely familiar now. Turns out Im forgetting a lot of what happens in the PT. But yeah, thats definitely enough for the worst parts of fandom to lose their minds about continuity.

Also now I wanna watch First Contact again.

It's definitely not a clear shot, and you would likely have to watch 20 times to spot it, but here is a still shot :

Yeah you know Disney must really be worried about the Star Wars franchise since it has only managed to be the top grossing movie in the US Domestic market and the top 1 or 2 worldwide over the past 3 years. That means that Solo will probably do really bad as well. :shrug:They should really stop making such unsuccessful movies...

P.S. The Solo trailer looks great. Can't wait

? I wasn't making a comment on the commercial viablitly of anything.

Sorry Odine I wasn’t actually having a go at you here. I was acting out my frustration with the narrative that is out there amongst the fans base who seem to want these films to fail so they can say I told you so.

Oh no I hate that kind of shit.

I WANT Star Wars to do well. I'm just starting to see cracks appear in the otherwise very slick veneer that covers everything. And I don't want it to be like that. Cause I love Star Wars. I mean.. enough to hang around at nightly.net under various guises for nearly 20 years.

I'm thinking that no matter what, at least this movie will give us more time with the Falcon. I've always liked seeing the interior of the ship. The more time spent aboard the better.

EVEN THOUGH ITS TOTALLY DIFFERENT OMG #NOTMYFALCON

Just my 2 cents, but I think having a shiny, new Falcon is kind of cool, actually. Makes sense, since we sort of got that with Slave I. Maybe the space in the mandible is an escape pod that was used? Kind of cool to see it clean on the inside. And before Han's mods. Kind of like seeing a 1969 Camaro when it was bone stock and new off the showroom floor, and then seeing it again 40 years later, when it has "character," where someone turned it into a street rod with a blower and Mickey Thompson slicks.

I'm cool with it too, but sometimes I'm a stickler for the continuity of the classic dialogue.

"You know, that ship's saved my life quite a few times. She's the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy."

When Lando refers to the Falcon as a hunk of junk, it feels to me like he's saying it with the familiarity of someone who might have referred to her as a 'hunk of junk' when he owned the ship.

I know there's the "what have you done to my ship?" line too that you might say contradicts my logic, but that can refer to any number of modifications and damages Han made/caused. It doesn't necessarily mean the ship was brand spanking new when Lando last saw it.

Won't ruin the movie for me, it's just one of those old interpretations that's hard to shake.

Totally agree. But the fanbros will say it's just to see more toys as part of Kennedy's feminist SJW toy Disney wants money blah blah blah agenda.

That's always been par for the course. Lucas put Ewoks in ROTJ for the merchandise. Now we have Porgs.

Sure, you can argue that he has had some time to get reacquainted with the Falcon between ESB and ROTJ and that's where the junk-familiarity comes from, but to me it just never read that way.

But he said that right after first seeing it in ESB.
