I agree with you on both points there.

I'm not a republican, but I think at least with the current crop, Rubio is the best one to unify the GOP, and personally, I think he is there best hope for remaining a viable party. I would personally like to see Rubio get the nomination, and pick someone like Kasich, or someone like him. n fact, in a Rubio VS Clinton general election, I would vote Rubio. GOP needs to get away from the crazies like Cruz, who are unwilling to work with anyone within or outside their party, unless they are in 100% lockstep with them.

I wonder... would a Rubio/Kasich ticket cause the crazies to stay home, or could they still be convinced to "hold their noses and vote" to keep a socialist/feminazi out of the White House? I haven't really been following the GOP since the new year; Kasich had over 60% approval in Ohio in late 2015 which could be important. Is Rubio unpopular enough with the far right and left to lose his home state?

Anyhoo, those two are probably the least offensive to moderates, but also not exactly popular with the true believer crowd. On the other hand, it seems those people are more stirred by the things they dislike than things they believe in. Dammit, I wanna know!!

I think after 8 years of hating on Obama, republicans will vote in pretty high numbers, except maybe the crazies or racists, which really is a good thing, actually. I like the idea of the unhinged to stay home and have no voice. But especially if it is Hillary on the Dem side, even they will turn out. She is probably one of the most polarizing public figures in recent history. You literally either love her or hate her. No one has a "meh" opinion about Hillary Clinton.

Also, I think Rubio WANTS to unite the GOP and move it forward to reflect modern times.

Rubio is possibly the most palatable of say an "Old Guard" type of candidate. He represents more of he stable show of candidates. Jeb poking constantly at Rubio though is getting tiring. If he can manage to leverage himself above the stupid I may vote for him. Otherwise, Imma feel the Bern.
