Guest El Chalupacabra
He wasn't a celebrity, but he was important to me and was a good man all his life. My grandfather passed away at age 98 on 12/29/15. He was a WW2 vet serving in the Army 1941-1946. He was in the signal corps, Americal division, and participated in the battle of Guadalcanal. I just thought i would mention it since we are losing so many WW2 vets these days.
Destiny Skywalker
I am sorry to hear, Chalupacabra. Both my grandpas were Ww2 vets, but I lost them 10+ years ago.

Ms. Spam
I'm sorry about your loss. Neither of my Grandfathers served during WWII. My Dad's pa was too young so he was through with basic by the time the war ended and just sailed around the ocean for while and got out of the Navy before the Korean War broke out and my Ma's pa shirked by using his health. Signal corps are very interesting,

Guest El Chalupacabra
Thank you Spam and Brando. I much appreciate that. And Spam, regardless if he was in WW2, even serving in peace time, just after WW2 was still very uncertain. Had things gone another way, we could have easily had to go into China, for example. So it is still an accomplishment. I'm sorry to have hijacked this thread a bit. Since I noticed a lot of WW2 vets on the list above (including Christopher Lee), I really meant to just bring awareness to the fact that WW2 Vets, and other people who lived during that era, are starting to pass away at an increased rate and it won't be long before we don't have any WW2 vets, indeed people who just lived during that era, around anymore. I don't mean to romanticize that generation or anything, but I think the WW2 generation (both men and women who served in war, and also those who didn't but were on the home front) were made of sterner stuff.
