I'm totally creeped out by the thought of this. I might be putting too much thought into this though. I mean I worked with this band teacher that was caught getting jiggy with it with a student. What appeals to these guys about a kid who can't earn a living and isn't mature? What are they thinking? Yeah, I'm thinking way too much about this. It's all evil.

Guys like young girls. It's in our DNA. There's a reason why women menstruate at 13. For most of our history life expectancy wasn't so good. As soon as girls were able to conceive they were pretty much fair game. Life actually depended on it. The awkward truth is that all of us are here today because of, what we would call today, child rape.

Any modern self respecting man would shun the practice (i hope), but if you put an insane amount of wealth into the hands of a sexually frustrated loser this is what you get.

I think it gives some insight into their mindset, but it certainly doesn't excuse their behavior.

And if I'm not mistaken Jared's youngest rape victim was a 16 year old girl.

"The level of perversion and lawlessness exhibited by Mr. Fogle is extreme," (Judge) Pratt said.

Pretty much all the insight you need, really.

When someone is willing to cross state lines to pay to have sex with minors, on top of possessing child porn, I don't know that there needs to be a whole lot of pontificating. They guy is a pervert. End of story. He only made things worse by trying to excuse it by saying once he lost the weight, that he had to replace his compulsion for eating food with compulsion to have sex with minors. As far as the law is concerned, minors cannot consent to sex, so any argument on Fogle's part, other than admitting guilt, is invalid. It doesn't matter if it was okay in other cultures or other points of time in the past. It's not okay now, and that speaks to his inability to stay within boundaries of the law that society deems important to follow. That is why he is going to jail.

I do wonder how much this behavior is inherited. Take the Ghenghis Kahn effect. Some insane amount of Chinese people (something like 10%) are direct descendants. Ghenghis had something like 50 kids, most of them from rape, and his sons did the same thing. It takes a total lack of empathy to do that to women (or men), and it makes sense to me that that kind of sociopathic behavior is passed down from generation to generation.
