And now time for the Democrats and their debate!

Clinton's "concession" speech was a lot better than Sanders', IMO.

She's obviously been heavily coached in the art of dramatic modulation since the last debate, and it has served her well.

Sanders' speech was the same ol' same ol', but his crowd was waaaay more lively, and his "donate to me directly" pitch was well played!

Another note: The Bern didn't call health care a "right" this time. I wonder if that was by design?

Rar! For that last comment, Pong.

Tonight - with Bernie's Michigan win - I wonder what the debate will be like.

I think that Trump could honestly win a general election at this point because the GOP has record voters while Democrats have nothing that makes them even get up and go to the polls.

My gut tells me that Trump would actually do much better against Hillary Clinton than Bernie Sanders, in large part because the only Democrats who seem really fired up right now are Sanders supporters (and this is taking into account the anti-Donald vote that would be present in a general election). Not predicting Trump would win, I just think he provides Clinton with more "matchup problems" (especially enthusiasm and on trade issues) than he does Sanders.

And btw, my gut rarely lies. Unless there are pies that have been on the counter for a few days.

I wonder if the crowd snorted. I always felt that Hillary had a hand in everything (almost) that Bill did since the day they met. Hillary is a lawyer though so her answers to almost all questions sound like litigator-speak.

I believe the moderator of this debate was the reporter that got ejected by Trump so it was pretty Latino leaning in its questions.

Agreed. Trump is a matchup problem for Clinton, and not just for the reasons you mentioned, i.e. trade. Trump can go all out populist against Clinton, for example, he can target Clinton's votes on bank bailouts/TARP, connections to Wall St, and so on. There are other issues where he can maneuver to her left as well, such as Iraq, and interestingly- health care. Clinton lobbied for Obamacare, which gives Trump an opening (should he choose it), to advocate for something like single payer, which he's supported before. I'm not sure exactly what route he will take, but if he goes in this direction, Trump would arguably be the more liberal candidate on the ballot, the first time for the GOP since '76 (before then, the GOP was regularly the more liberal party).

Of course, none of this would work against Sanders. Trump would have to rely almost entirely on style/optics in that election, since Trump/Sanders, outside of rhetoric (e.g. comments on Muslims etc), are actually probably more similar on issues than Trump/Clinton. Trump would have to win by doing things like calling Sanders a socialist repeatedly and making him look like a crazy old man (both lines of attack actually could be fairly effective).

Along those lines, against Clinton, Trump is the only one that could effectively go populist. I don't see Cruz doing that. Maybe Kasich a little bit.

Obama goes to Austin, stops at Torchy's Tacos and gives a TED talk to open SXSW and then goes to two DNC fundraisers. I don't even wanna know what traffic was like but I like the presidents choice in tacos.

Not really about the debates but really a president at SXSW stumping for his party!

Sanders put up a good fight and is now being smart and classy.

Smart, because with Clinton, who knows what next week will bring? Might as well stay in the race, even if it's only for the sake of "just in case."

Classy, because now that he's for all intents and purposes "done," barring a miracle, he's made it clear he's just in it for "the issues" and "the platform."

Contrast this to the sick, frantic grasping, wheezing, and whining on the GOP side (even from the frontrunner)...

I would not vote for Sanders unless he were in a tight race with somebody like Cruz, and can't think of a single policy position I agreed with; essentially, I often agree with his sentiment or intentions, but not his remedies. I'm glad he's energized so many people, though, and I think he has unintentionally started to expose the shell game of higher education, which is pretty cool!

Dennis Prager is on CNN claiming no Democrats are concerned about Hillary Clinton's character, while the Republicans are going through all this painful soul searching because "character" is sooooooo important to conservative peeps.

Jesus, how gag-inducing. Yeah, like every other Bernie Sanders supporter doesn't bring up Hillary Clinton's history and character as part of the reason the reason they prefer Sanders.

So is Prager just utterly uninformed? A "congenital liar?" Both? omg!
