Guest El Chalupacabra
So do I, actually. I'd vote for him.
Pong Messiah
Will be so ****ing cool when he shows up at that empty podium at the last second, the speakers start blaring "Real American" as he rips his shirt off, wags a finger at Webb, punches Chafee 3 times, Irish Whips O'Malley, big boots Sanders, then leg drops Clinton. That right there is all he needs to win this ****iest of ****iest elections. Why even hold a general election after that?

Pong Messiah
I don't anymore, Spam. Have tried to several times, but it's been in kind of a down/repetitive/recycled wrestler phase forever so it's not worth following too closely... at the same time, it's one of those things where there are just too damn many storylines and subplots to follow if you're not willing to invest the time. Pretty much the same reason I stopped reading comics
Pong Messiah
Oh, and by the way, and back on topic: I would vote for Webb in a heartbeat. Even if he looks like a starving Sontaron, he's the one major party candidate whose political beliefs line up with mine most often, and he was politically incorrect before it was cool. So of course, he's running at like 0.00001%
Darth Krawlie
I don't know anything about Webb, but I remember liking omalley. I couldn't tell you why though. Remembering things is hard.

Pong Messiah
Bad news. According to CNN, Biden is going to be busy draining the essence of a Gelfling into his hair transplant during the debate tonight.
Ms. Spam
God damn it. I see a third party candidate in my future.

Pong Messiah
Wow, Cheryl Crow sounds like ****. But thanks for the reminder that this is more sports entertainment than anything serious.
Pong Messiah
Audience seems very pro-Clinton. WTF I thought everybody hated her because she is a war-mongering capitalist running dog, allowing her ego to ****-block St. Sanders's inevitable coronation? Maybe I should find some friends outside of social media?

Ms. Spam
I had class tonight so I missed the debate. Will watch in a moment but I love Pong's reactions. I also think the crowd was cherry picked. I was afraid Bernie would sound cranky old Brooklyn man.
Pong Messiah
Was pretty OK. Anderson Cooper didn't let the candidates walk all over him, which was good. He should moderate all the debates. Chafeee was just a ****ing joke. "Go easy on me! I was new!" What??? Webb didn't do himself any favors -- too mumbly, and even if he weren't, just too out of step with his party on too many issues to gain traction (was described as a "very intelligent, thoughtful Republican" afterward). And worst of all, he was bitchy about the time constraints. O'Malley is so bland and nonthreatening. He's actually a pretty fiery dude, from what I hear, but didn't seem like it tonight. Gets third prize, as every response was clear and on target, if unspectacular. Sanders had a lot of applause lines and I was glad to see him stick to his "guns" (heh) on urban vs. rural gun control, but I don't see his performance bringing any boost in the polls (though I'm sure his supporters think he destroyed the competition). Clinton, aside from drawing a brilliant contrast with Sanders on the "Will America vote for a socialist?" issue, gave canned, safe responses, but she was obviously very well rehearsed, very polished, and fed off the crowd. Clear winner; I don't remember her doing this well in any of the 2008 debates. As always, my biggest complaint is that the issues these people are talking about aren't black and white or simple, and take a hell of a lot longer than 90 seconds if you want any sort of serious, substantial response. But it's sports entertainment -- whatcha gonna do?
Ms. Spam
Oh yeah, on Sanders supporters. I have a lot of artsy type friends and my feed has been about how awesome Sanders was.
Pong Messiah
Yeah, the old vegan joke comes to mind with Sanders supporters. How can you tell if your friend is a Bernie Sanders supporter? Don't worry, they'll ****ing tell you!
monkeygirl
I agree on everything but Clinton-I thought she came off like an old, tired joke. She's asked about Medicare and instead says "well, let me address college affordability" and it wasn't her only deflection. Chfafee, though, what a whining baby! "I just got into town, I didn't know what I was voting for, my Dad just died, cut me a break!" I LOVE how Cooper followed up on all their little-girl whines. I like comraderie, but CRIPES, are we voting for the parties en masse? Could they have patted each other on the back any more? And I agree, the 'lesser' candidates were given virtually no time at all-it was the Clinton/Sanders show with "...and the rest".

I still think she gave the most polished performance. One comment I heard afterward that might turn her "reassuringly solid performance" into a failure was: "Just wait for the fact checkers." Outside of Fox News and a few Bernie-Or-Bust fanatics, there doesn't seem to be much urgency in running every Clinton deflection, obfuscation, and misstatement up the flagpole, but it will happen, if only in drips and drops. monkeygirl
That shit just pisses me off. Why have a moderator-in fact, why call it a debate, if anyone can just talk about anything they feel like talking about, regardless of the questions they're asked? Why not just give them each 10 minutes to bloviate and be done with it?
