On to Biden. OMG, guys can you imagine a Ted Cruz Joe Biden debate!?

Gawd if those two make it that far, it will be both entertaining and a national embarrassment.

Biden is pretty nuts, but he's more or less harmless. Ted Crazy is simply criminally insane and evil.

America has suffered with that for a few generations. I do not see Biden beating hillary. He does not have Hillary's still active media drive to crown an allegedly "transformational" (whatever) person. The amount of gymnastic prevarication employed by some to defend Hillary is clear, no matter how many graveyards fall out of her closet.

I'd like to see Biden at least in the running for a while, because I think his contributions to the news cycle would be really entertaining. I think Hilary will ultimately get the nomination because OMG WOMYN and if that's not reason enough to vote for her, clearly you're a rapist. I'd like to think Bernie Sanders has a chance, but I'm a bit leery of how easily he was cowed by the Black Lives Matter bitches from his Seattle rally.

I think Bernie handled it well, in keeping with his style. He was basically attacked by psychotic idiots, so the options were another"don't taze me bro" moment or just ending it. Although I honestly doubt these women were anything other than Hillary supporters. Bernie is the best candidate for the Black Lives Matter campaign, and Hillary is the only person who benefits from him being quieted.

That's the exact thing my wife and I were talking about last night. Of all the candidates to go after, they choose BERNIE? There's plenty of things you could attack him for, being a self professed socialist, but for this? They've gotta be Hillary shills.

I have no evidence to support this, but it sure does make sense. The only counter I can think of is that Hillary's public appearances have been so tightly scripted and controlled compared to Sanders and O'Malley, no protesters have been able to get in.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if you guys are right tho.

It seems to be a very popular conspiracy theory, even for a conspiracy theory. It boils down to: 1) The protesters are really stupid or 2) It was a rigged stunt to disrupt his talk. It really doesn't make any rational sense.

All the talk about the contender is centered on Biden, but doesn't Sanders have a pretty big lead in straw polls? I may be misinformed....wouldn't be the first time. To me, Biden has a snowball's chance. Sanders has a fair chance.

It's mainly because the media already decided that Sanders doesn't have a chance, so he isn't getting the coverage.

If he can avoid a ridiculous Howard Dean moment, I think he has a chance.

As it currently stands, no, Biden cannot beat Clinton. His base of support basically overlaps with Clinton, so he would need that base to abandon Clinton first. That's pretty unlikely, though there's a chance with the email scandal- unlike Benghazi, which never really implicated Clinton and was a pretty obvious and desperate attempt by the GOP to politicize an issue, the email scandal might have legs. It's something that goes directly to Clinton's credibility and also hits one of Clinton's biggest negatives- a general feeling that she is corrupt.

Given the anti-establishment mood currently (see, e.g., the rise of Sanders and Trump), depending on what this FBI investigation reveals, it could get worse for Clinton, much worse. If that happens, then yes, there would be an opening for Biden, but it would have to happen soon- he's running out of time before the primaries.

Sanders on the other hand, has basically no shot. Although he draws big crowds and it's been fun to see his rise, at the end of the day, he needs minority support and for whatever reason, he has basically none. His base right now is almost entirely white progressives, which is enough to get you trending on twitter, but not enough to get elected. He's got a decent shot at picking off NH, but then next up is SC, where Clinton currently has a 70 point lead. That'll probably be the end for Sanders.

I like Sanders. Although I don't agree with him on much (if anything), I do think he's genuine and it's admirable that he stays focused on what really matters (i.e. economics) and doesn't let himself get sidetracked by SJW 'issue of the day' nonsense.

That being said, I think he would be a weak president. There was a kernel of truth in what Trump said, when he called him weak for letting his microphone be taken away. I think a Sanders presidency would end up sort of like a leftist mirror image of the Bush presidency. I think he'd largely lose control of his Cabinet, the GOP would stonewall him in Congress, and some major event would happen that he would get blamed for unfairly, since he wouldn't be able to get ahead of the narrative (sort of like Carter in 1979 with Iran).

Yeah, feel much the same way as you.

There was a fun little read today about how even though Clinton and (kinda) Bush are favorites, voters are more scared of Clinton vs. Bush than Sanders vs. Trump. I do think a lot of people know in their heart of hearts that Sanders would likely be weak and ineffective and that Trump would probably just turn the presidency into a giant reality show... but they just don't care anymore.

I've the $2 billion VA compromise bill as an example of Sanders being able to broker deals across the aisle. I'm not familiar with his record if there are other similarly notable examples.
