The Kurgan
This should explain everything. Without even clicking on that link, Carrie's post made me think of how great it was to actually have Ayn Rand, or the closest we could possibly get now that the real thing has long since passed away, posting right here at nightly! DANA-kin Skywalker
Okay I'll play devils advocate here. So in simple terms, the popular opinion here seems to be "it's annoying unless it's a cause you can get behind", you being the reader and not the person benefiting. Subjective and not even determined by the starter, so what's the harm in starting one? And Isn't this site kinda sorta funded on the same basis? Driver
It's annoying when it's clearly somebody who wants something for their self that isn't a necessity and is too lazy, unskilled, impatient, or otherwise faulty to work for it. Helping people with true need is different. Nightly does work on donations, but you're paying for something that benefits you. (and if you donate, you do think it benefits you).
