The NAACP woman who pretends she's black

Nothing on this yet? Personally I applaud her. Just like Caitlyn having the courage to become a woman, this gal showed the world that you can be black if you really feel like it. My dead grandmother can now choose to be alive if she wants to. What a wonderful world.

If she had simply said from the start that she was born white but identified as black, with black culture, etc., it wouldn't even be a big deal. Some people would raise eyebrows, sure, but whatever. I think it is the willful (or delusional) deception used for personal gain here that makes this a far juicier story. As far as I know, Caitlyn Jenner never pretended to be anything she wasn't 'cept when living as a man, and it wasn't a willful attempt to gain power/influence/money, right?

Except on a very surface level, I do not see much similarity between the two stories.

I believe this is the slippery slope that people spoke of.

Objectively, I think it's all just completely hilarious. People want to have their cake and eat it too. Identifying as a [gender] is okay, but taking traits from another culture is appropriation. I love it. Just sitting here laughing, eating popcorn, and enjoying the show.

I wonder if she got the idea from Soul Man. ;-)

JUNE 15--The NAACP official who today resigned in the face of evidence that she masqueraded as black once sued Howard University for denying her teaching posts and a scholarship because she was a white woman, The Smoking Gun has learned.

Perhaps?

Um, he's doing so right now. Try as you might you can't just give away a Y chromosome.

She's not claiming she doesn't have a Y chromosome. Identifying as a different gender does not mean you were born as that gender. There is no pretending; nobody believes Caitlyn Jenner was born with girl parts or double X chromosomes.

I keep trying to tell women that inside I feel like a combination of Derek Jeter and George Clooney and that if they don't treat me as such then they are not being accepting of who I really am.

I'm Tom Brady. It's true, actually.

And I have a black penis.

She's a man, baby.

Y chromsome = man

In other news the sky is blue and poo smells bad.

Pff. If I was gonna say something shitty I'd tell you to quit writing stories about Leatherface.

Maybe you should make him a woman. Or black or both. Is Smash Mouth gonna provide the soundtrack?

Once again a person to does not need press time gets attention and for what? Lying that she is actually white. Big whoop! Go ahead and be the colors of the rainbow for all I care, but this is not a news worthy event.

Its nothing more than full grown adults who never got past the identity crisis as a teenager. I see it everyday in my job.

I agree with you 100%, Pong. In all the media talking points, I don't get why people keep bringing Jenner up in the first place? It's apples and oranges as far as I am concerned.

If someone is going to compare Rachel Dolezal to someone, doesn't it make more sense to compare her to Elizabeth Warren? Dolezal is just the former NAACP Sopkane Chapter president. As far as I know, theoretically she could have been hired regardless if she was black or white. It's the lie itself people are upset about, especially when it may not really have been necessary in the first place. Yes it is a rotten thing to claim she was black when she wasn't and yes, she deservedly had to step down. But unlike Warren, when Dolezal got caught, she paid the consequences. Warren on the other hand, being the disgusting piece of human waste that she is, not only got into college on a lie similar to Dolesal's, and built her entire career on that same lie, but continues to tell the same lie, and people literally beg her to run for president. Where are people on both sides of the political spectrum calling BS in the double standard?

You have it backwards-Caitlyn Jenner HAD been pretending to be something she is not. Now, she's being authentic.

My only big issue with Rachel Dolezal is her scholarhsip. If that was to be given to an African-American only, she committed fraud. But if her employers didn't care about it in the context of her job, I don't think it's anybody's business.

I also have issues with her lying about having lived in a tepee and growing up in South Africa, but I don't care and I don't think that's really anyone's business, either. She ant's to lie, embellish? Fine.

But I don't think she should be held credible when claiming she's been been discriminated against. Whether or not somebody could be charged with a hate crime, if THEY thought she was African-American, too, I find interesting. Carrie, do you have a take on that?

Clearly she is one confused, perhaps mentally ill individual.

ALSO: I've been dying to say this but it's too physically close to me-I may be connected to people she knows-but what UP with her hair, man? She looks like the love child of Boy George and Sideshow Bob.

The broader question this brings up: "Are we going to miss those lines?" We have blurred or demolished lines between gender, and now seemingly race.

I for one, would like to identify as Cherokee and get some of that tribal money. I thought Native Americans have cool history and....well....gimme some of that casino money!

I wonder what her story would be if she was pulled over by the cops?

Of course it would be something like this"you pulled me over because I am black right? Whats your badge number and I am not telling you my name. You are harassing me because I am black. I will not stop filming you with my phone."

Typical modern day bs that would end up on the news.
