I find it funny when those thinking "everything is changing" are shocked by stories like yours. All I can say is "what the--" to it all. Racial hatred was and remains an irrevocably bonded part of the American story, that threads every part of national life.

And not just America. The "races" differ but the same dynamics occur pretty well everywhere.

Agreed. And funnily enough, a lot of racial/cultural hatred exists between different ethnic minority groups.. not just the traditional black/versus white. In london at least there is huge racial tension between Bengalis/Indian/Pakistanis and then tension between people from Ghana vs Somalia vs Kenyan vs Jamaican as well as the different religious racism that exists within Islam and Islam vs everyone else. Its ****ed. I once new a Malaysian woman who told me "Never trust a cambodian" verbatim. White guilt can go **** itself.
