So do you think Jim Webb, a military guy whose demographic is basically poor and lower middle class white people ('specially men), has a chance of doing anything other than giving the pundits something to talk about during the Democratic primaries?

I compared Webb to a Sontaran back in 2006, and I still feel the same way, but with more love today than yesterday.

He's a political oddball and an interesting character, which no doubt spells doom, but I'm nonetheless curious to see where he goes with this.

If he participates in the 2016 Democratic primary for president, he'll be basically cannon fodder for the primaries to give the appearance of choice when (that's right, not if, I'm calling it now) Hillary is nominated in 2016. If he is lucky, they may think about him as a VP to balance the ticket, if he doesn't say or do anything too stupid. He was considered for Obama.

it's no one thing about her; I'm okay with most of her stances on my big issues, but there's a certain lack of charisma from her that just makes me want to change the channel whenever I see her speak. I'm really looking forward to the primaries, just so I can see what else the dems have to offer.

Though I'll be honest: I really wish America would get on board with some other political parties. Can you imagine how exciting it would be to have a debates between say a republican, democratic, libertarian AND green party presidential candidates? My head would explode with excitement. Brains everywhere.

It wouldn't matter if the two party system was dominated by the Flat Earth Society Party and The Peoples' Socialist Red Faction Party instead of the Rs and Ds, because the same lobbyists, and the same special interest groups would still be there to steer their votes and political stances one way or the other.

As for Hillary, I don't want to see her nominated, either (though I believe it to be inevitable), purely on the basis of I oppose political dynasties, particularly since her husband was president for 2 terms. Seems politically incestuous, to me.
