Pong Messiah
Sharyl Attkisson has in recent years made a name for herself by doggedly pursuing the Benghazi and Fast and Furious stories, and claiming her network cockblocked stories before the 2012 election that would have damaged Obama. Now, she's got a book coming out and is claiming the gov't hacked her computer. Believable? On one hand, she's got a long record of investigative reporting and has won lotsa prestigious awards -- and was not friendly to corporations, Republicans, or pharmaceutical companies. Clearly an excellent reporter! But then in 2008, Attkisson peed in Hillary Clinton's oatmeal by pointing out she didn't actually land in Bosnia under sniper fire, and she has been increasingly critical of the Obama Administration's attitude toward reporters/lack of transparency, which raises the specter of an agenda.Hard to know what to think! Guest El Chalupacabra
Isn't it kind of a given that ever since Watergate, journalists pretty much now gauge their success by revealing a scandal? The press does have to hold government accountable, which is something that I think has been lacking for a while. In fact, I think the press, until recently this past year, hasn't had much criticism of the Obama Administration. Which may be the reason Attkisson stands out so much. But at the same time journalists have been in the mind set for about two generations now that the only way to get noticed is breaking a huge scandal of some sort, not covering actual news.
