honestly, when i think of tears for fears, i think of gary jules and how he basically owns 'mad world' now after his amazing remake of the tears for fears song. kinda like how johnny cash owns 'hurt' by nin and how anyone not named leonard cohen owns 'hallelujah'.

different opinions from everyone, i guess. i don't find this album earth shattering or a hero album by any means, but it's pretty clear that it was a pretty important album in the 80's and it sold millions of records worldwide, so i know **** all.

OKAY NOW my head's gonna pop off. JUST POP. OFF.

okay. well, just remember, it's just an opinion in a thread asking for an opinion and this is only a message board. it's no big deal.

But that's the thing MG, Carrie DID say it was in contention for the best album of the 80s which unless it were strong hyperbole I'd have to disagree.

But I mean, yeah, David's right... There are more important things to be worked up over

...sort of like Pink Floyd pre and post Waters.

That's a great point: Momentary Lapse of Reason is far better, too!

I'd also include...

REM - Fables of the Reconstruction, Document

fIREHOSE - If'n

Minutemen - Double Nickles on the Dime

Bob Mould - Workbook

Richard Thompson - Daring Adventures, Shoot Out the Lights, Amnesia

Prince - Purple Rain

Throwing Muses - Hunkpapa

The Cure - The Head on the Door

Steve Vai - Flex-Able

Billy Joel - Glass Houses

The Sisters of Mercy - First and Last and Always

Rush - Moving Pictures, Signals, Grace Under Pressure

New Model Army - The Ghost of Cain, Thunder and Consolation

Judas Priest - Screaming for Vengeance, Defenders of the Faith

Iron Maiden - Piece of Mind, Powerslave

Jethro Tull - Crest of a Knave

Fairport Convention - Expletive Delighted!, In Real Time

The Police - Ghost in the Machine, Synchronicity

Stanley Clarke - If This Bass Could Only Talk

Stanley Jordan - Magic Touch

...off the top of my head.
