Ryn
I can't tell if that's an artist's signature over the left shoulder, but it looks like a streamlined helmet, minus some normal detail, notably along the brow and chin. It's really too small to tell.

TuskenRaider
Looks more like something you might see in the Rebels tv series.
Odine
And it's been painted by an amateur. The perspective on the helm (particularly the left side) is all askew, that's why it looks like a duck and not a storm trooper.
Odine
By left I mean right. And by perspective it's more the shadows are whack and don't really work with the form.
Kitster aka Boba Fett
I like it. Not only does it evoke Ralph McQuarrie, but to me it looks like a Stormtrooper for the iPod generation. Sleek white plastic, simple, minimalistic. I'm curious to see if JJ will bring the OT aesthetic into the present in ways like that. A less detailed/involved design also makes me wonder if the Empire (or Imperial Remnant or whatever) has less resources and money to spend on armor these days. Zerimar Nyliram
I know it's EU, but indulge me for just a moment: in the comic series Legacy, which takes place 130 years after the films, the stormtooper helmet has evolved a wee little bit (smaller eyes is the only thing I've noticed). But the best thing is, the Remnant has become more inclusive and has developed stormtrooper armor and helmets to accommodate a number of different species. While the aesthetic and general feel is still the same, the shape is slightly (or sometimes drastically) different in order to accommodate the different shapes of aliens' heads. This idea is something I wouldn't mind seeing in the new movies.

Ryn
It does evoke some of his pen and ink sketches but, again, it's hard to tell at that available size.
TuskenRaider
The more it looks like a McQuarrie design, the more it points to Rebels. Since that is basically McQuarrie: The Cartoon Series. lol (I would also accept the alternate title of "McQuarried!")
Driver
A few sites are reporting these are the Episode 7 helmets. Not enough sites that I by it fully-- but apparently these leaked from a prop replica house. If real, I love the 70s but new sleekness of them. Odine
Ye-ahhhh now were talking. Particularly like that second one you posted, Driver. Kinda looks mideaval in a way but sci-fi. Not sure I'm sold on the regular storm trooper helmet though. Kind of a case of don't fix what isn't broke.
Jacen123
I certainly like the idea of this. The changes in design seem very similar to those of the new x-wing. It is clearly still a stormtrooper helmet, but changed over time, probably in gradual ways (in the SW universe) over the 30 years.
Mitth'raw'nuroudo
For all that the Prequels did, the fact that there are still Stormtroopers 30 years after Endor is an even bigger dump on the legacy of the OT. It doesn't even fit with the new ending of Jedi, with the various planets celebrating the fall of the Emperor. Five years, even a decade, sure, but 30 years? For the armor to have evolved to this extent means either the Rebellion was a complete failure and we're back to square one, or instead of the Empire falling, the galaxy split, with the Empire and the New Republic coexisting, kinda like I see the USA doing by 2200 or so. Driver
Or there are Neo-Empire enclaves scattered throughout the galaxy, mostly made up of idiots, but eventually they pool up and make a semi-threatening terrorist organization determined to rule the galaxy. Ryn
I'm sure there were vested, profitable interests in the Empire. Every Confederation faction got rolled into that, so at least anyone from the Banking Clan is involved.
