ShadowDog
It starts tonight! Anybody excited? I predict that when I come back in here I'll give it a 8 out of 10. Be interesting to see how I feel afterwards.
Darth Krawlie
I'm excited. Not expecting to see it for a couple weeks, but I'm game for anything Marvel.
Lucas1138
You know, I'm not sure I'm even that interested. I'll try to watch the first few on DVR, but I'm not interested enough to make it appointment TV. Which is weird because I am also game for anything Marvel. I just haven't been able to get pumped up about it yet.
Rock
Ehhh, I'm in the same boat, Lucas11383811838183818811. I'm bored so I guess it wouldn't kill me to give it a shot and if I hate it I'll swap to a re-run of TBBT.
Ms. Spam
I may have a nerdgasm! But that's just me. I only have seen a few ads so I am concerned it will be a lot of side characters.
Exodus
Not side characters, just not super heroes. It's like X-Files, in a way, except it's set in the Marvel universe; SHIELD instead of the FBI/X-Files, and plot devices drawn around things existing in the Marvel universe or movieverse instead of the supernatural or extraterrestrial (well, some extraterrestrial obviously...we got some Chitauri references tonight). Tonight, it was (mostly) extremis...which was unexpected, but cool. One episode in, and I'm satisfied.
NumberSix
...so that was a pretty sufficient pilot. Gunn, Shepherd Book, two Dollhouse showrunners and one Angel showrunner. Ain't no party like a Joss party.
Ms. Spam
I have to wait until I get home from school. Stupid Masters Program.
ShadowDog
Ah, 7 out of 10 in reality. It was ai-ite. A little too slick and over produced. Hopefully that's just the pilot.
NumberSix
Coulson and Gunn Mike Peterson pretty much won the episode, and it was nice to see Ming Na-Wen rock one scene on her own. The rest of those magazine-model youngsters are gonna have to work double overtime to catch up to their level.
Driver
I thought it was fun-- but really on the nose and not subtle and even cliche at times... but it's network TV so it's to be expected. They are casting a really wide, really commercial net with this so I doubt it will ever have the genius or intensity of a cable show... and without the star power/charisma of the Avengers it's going to be an uphill battle. I'm along for the ride for now though, it seems fun enough. One nitpick-- they borrowed Extremis from Iron Man 3 as a tie-in... but didn't Tony have a cure for it by the end of the movie? Ryn
I liked it enough. A sufficient amount of nods to the cinematic universe, which could provide some fertile material to expand upon in the show. Loved having the Mutant Enemy bit back. Pong Messiah
Kinda dumb and obvious. Hurt. Will give it another chance though. Getting kind of tired and annoyed by Whedon and his Whedonisms.
Driver
I for one am glad for a show about a multi-racial band of experts having adventures in which they go on missions and learn about the mysterious human condition.
The Human Torch
^ I forgot this was coming out this season. I saw the promo pic of (I think she's called) Lola, that's a pretty car. I'm looking forward to the eventual Hot Wheels, LEGO and/or 1:18 scale version.
Pong Messiah
Watched it again cause I couldn't believe I didn't like it, and liked it even less the second time (though I appreciated the choreography more). Naturally, I'll be back next week. It has to be some kind of mistake.
R.CAllen
Felt a bit ... overcrowded. Two tie-in characters to the Marvel cinemaverse, two reluctant action heroes, three techies, four mysterious past-ys. Also, ABC, if you had realized years ago that all you really want for yourself is a fun peppy spy-fi action show you could have kept the one you had and we'd be well on our way to Season Six of The Middleman. Rock
I didn't enjoy it at all. Was very boring, the characters were totally cliched and fake and a storyline that was mediocre to the core of all mediocrity.
DESTINY
I think the show is promising?
Ryn
I thought it may have been too much put into only one hour of television, but thinking about Whedon's other shows, there should be enough episodes to open up this world and its characters. Copper
Meh, I thought it was fun. Second viewing wasn't as fun as the first, though.
Destiny Skywalker
I give it a 6/10. Willing to give it a chance but I was a little bit bored. Trying too hard, but pilots usually do.
Ryn
One nitpick-- they borrowed Extremis from Iron Man 3 as a tie-in... but didn't Tony have a cure for it by the end of the movie? Did they already know about the Chautari tech at this point? Maybe it was unknown in what capacity Extremis was involved? Should there be an interactive online version of the No-Prize? R.CAllen
YAAAAAY CAMEO YAAAAY REFERENCES TO THE MOVIES YAAAY CRAZY STAFF-LAUNCHED EXPLODING SONIC WAVE GRENADE I just realized Melinda May's alliterative initials make her name a classic Marvel-style one (Peter Parker, Bruce Banner, Matt Murdock etcetera) and therefore of all the characters on this show I hope she's the one to make the transition to the comics universe. Oh, and I didn't notice last time but it seems that Jim Steranko (who is apparently reviewing each episode of the series for The Hollywood Reporter), Mark Millar, Bryan Hitch are thanked in the credits. Louis D'Esposito too, a name that was unfamiliar to me without Google but it seems he's a longtime assistant director and producer who's Co-President of Marvel Studios and directed the Item 47 and Agent Carter DVD extra short films.
