Darth Lohr
I agree about the 5 game first round. It'll never happen, of course, because of the Benjamins. Still, more than just having a shorter playoffs, I liked it because there was less room for error by the higher seeds. It left the door open wider for the occasional upset. Metropolis
Just read the Finals are going back to a 2-2-1-1-1 format. Good news.Very happy about this. Don't consider any of the 2-3-2 finals "real." Can start keeping records again. So you haven't kept records for 28 years?
Pong Messiah
So you haven't kept records for 28 years?Oh, I know who "won," but the only legit champs in my books are the teams without homecourt. Lohr: unfortunately true! Too much money in that Pandora's Box they opened up...
Lucas1138
I don't understand what difference you think the 2-3-2 format had on legitimacy or competitive balance.
Pong Messiah
Pretty big difference! At that level of competition, where adjustments between (and during games) can change the outcome, I think expecting anybody to win 3 games in a row is a pretty big hurdle to jump over. The Choc
It's because winning all 3 road games for the team without home court advantage was very hard. In a 2-2-1-1-1 series the "formula" for the away team is to get a split in the first 2 on the road, then win games 3, 4, 6 at home. While in a 2-3-2 it's harder to win 3 straight games at home, at least in theory. So you basically in most cases need a split of the first 2, 2 of 3 of the middle 3 and then another split on the road. I don't know if any research has been done to see if this is true, but it seems right to me. I can remember alot of series where the road team wins all 3 of their home games in the 2-2-1-1-1, steals one on the road and wins the series (Knicks-Pacers last year followed this formula). While I think in the 2-3-2 it's only happened once where the team has won all 3 of the middle games at home, the Heat doing it to OKC I believe was the first time it happened. Lucas1138
Bought an 11 game ticket package for the Pacers today for $140 bucks. The games are: Orlando MagicMiami HeatBoston CelticsCleveland CavaliersLA ClippersBrooklyn NetsDallas MavericksGolden State WarriorsChicago BullsSan Antonio SpursOklahoma City Thunder That's a pretty sick deal if you ask me. Metropolis
Actually the Heat did it twice. They did it beating Dallas back in'06.
The Choc
The 2004 Pistons did it too, I guess thats kinda out the window. I remember no one had done it for a long time but since 2004 its been more common.
Pong Messiah
http://mavsblog.dall...m-in-2006.html/ LOL! I hated the 2-3-2 format, but whatever. Silly excuse, because they gave up. They would have lost if it was 2-1-4. They would have lost had Dwayne Wade only been to the line 15 times!
Exodus
Apparently Lin has been benched in favor of Patrick Beverly. That sounds interesting, indeed...
The Choc
Smart idea by the Heat showing the final 26 seconds from Game 6 of the Finals at their pregame ceremony considering most Heat fans missed it the first time.
Ms. Spam
Apparently Lin has been benched in favor of Patrick Beverly. That sounds interesting, indeed... We must have felt the same thing in our Fantasy league because no one chose Lin to my knowledge.
Metropolis
I like how Steve Kerr referred to the fans in the cheap seats. There were no cheap seats for tonight's game. If there were I would have been there.
Metropolis
Well that got closer than I would have liked but 82-0 is still a reality.
Lucas1138
Pacers and Heat both had games that ended up closer than what they actually were. Roy Hibbert scared the crap out of us. He went down awkwardly with a non-contact injury when his knee buckled. It looked like a hyper-extension at worst, and ACL/MCL tears at best. I was legitimately distraught for 10 minutes before one of the Pacers beat reporters tweeted that Roy was okay, could return but wouldn't, and would play tomorrow night against New Orleans. The Choc
I'm horrified that the Knicks decided to give out orange shirts to the entire crowd like we are some hick town or something, however I'm happy that so many people aren't wearing the shirts. Lucas1138
I still don't understand your hatred for handing out shirts. The ones the Pacers handed out last year were pretty cool.
The Choc
It's small time, its something I'd expect at a minor league baseball game.
Ms. Spam
It's a great thing to take home from the game though. I'd rather a t-shirt than a program. However, I do agree with Choc that I like that they are not wearing them. It actually distracts me from the game as I can tune out background when it's a jumble of color and such but when it is a wall of one colored shirts... Metropolis
So the Heat were down 22 early and now only trail by 2 at the half. That's today's NBA. We honestly should be up. As many times as we turned th ball over during the run.Are you at the game Choc?

The Choc
Shumpert looks great and he is the key to the team. He has the talent to become an All Star who averaged in the mid to upper teens scoring, grab boards and play world class defense. The issue is a glut of guys at the positions he plays. I hope having JR and MWP on the team doesn't hold Shumpert back.
Metropolis
I swear we play defense only when we want to. There goes the undefeated season.
