We've been talking about Orson Scott Card in the Lyceum, but since that's about the controversy around the movie, it doesn't really seem right to discuss the trailer and all. But there's a trailer now!!!!

Thoughts?

Book spoilers, especially the end of the book, and some non-spoiler stuff about later books in the series:

Somehow I am yet to read the book. I'm planning on buying it in the next couple of days and tearing through it. I have a few friends that are OMG-OBSESSED with this series though so hopefully it lives up to their billing!

I thought it was very good - so good I read it in one sitting, staying up until 2am to do so.

I hate hype, though. I hope it doesn't cloud your experience. I think I would have enjoyed a few things a lot more if they hadn't been hyped to the moon and back.

Saw the Ender's game film props at the SD Comic Con

They also had a trailer and it looks awesome.

BTW! I got interviewed for the proposed DVD in which I call Harrison Ford and "ICON"

I finally read the book last night and this morning so I could catch an early showing of the movie today.

Really liked the book. Even if it is a little juvenile at times.

The movie was just okay. It's a nice complement to the book but I think it would have a hard time standing on its own.

I watched it the other night. Quite enjoyed it. The cinematography was good as was the pace of advancing the storyline.  However:

Anyone who read the book/books, is there a sequel planned?

There are sequel books, but I'm unsure if there is one planned to be adapted.

Malfoy,

I'm interested to find that you enjoyed it. I really thought it would be less enjoyable for someone who hasn't read the book. Glad to hear that wasn't the case.

Did you get the sense how much strain they were putting on Ender throughout his training? In the book there are literally months that pass where they make his team go into battle every day, sometimes twice a day, and at all hours of the day and night. The author did a reasonable job at writing just how exhaustive the whole process was for him. I worried about how that was conveyed.

re: your spoiler.

If you liked the movie, I definitely recommend reading the book. I flew through it in about 5 hours one night and morning last week. It's a very quick read.
