Understood, it's a sneek peak/first look/unfinished product, satisfy the fanbase teaser and all...
That said: Anybody else think the initial SFX look a little animated, like, flat 2D cell colored television grade animation?!?

I like this....

Ben Kingsley as The Mandarin:

...although I used to think he would make a great Professor X if Patrick Stewart doesn't reprise the role for an Xmen 4 (if it ever happens), or they rebooted Xmen.

Hopefully it takes a little more time than the second. I know 2 was a bridge to the Avengers but it didn't feel like a stand alone film. Effects seem on par with any other blockbuster out today. I expect a little cartoon in my cartoon movies.

Will we see Rescue in this film?

I will be very happy if that happens. It seems to be a popular rumor.

Rescue might have been an idea that was batted around for Iron Man 2 or 2010's Vogue just thought the idea was phototabulous.

Yeah, hopefully this will be more like the first Iron Man. I'm not the hugest fan of all these Marvel movies. Outside of Iron Man I think they've all been just pretty good, even The Avengers.

Mandarin's voice was more jarring than the SFX.

Really, I think IM2's briefcase suit would make a great Rescue.

Marvel has been pretty tight with their casting choices, but I never would have thought ever ever to cast Kingsley as The Mandarin. However I wouldn't have cast Liam as Ras either (yes, it's DC I know).

Side Thought:

I always imagined someone with an Omar Sharif look as Ras and Chow Yun Fat look as The Mandarin.

Donnie Yen, if given good material.

I like how Ben Kingsley looks more like the Mandarin in every other role he's ever played than he does in this movie. He looks like wandered off the Hobbit set.

I agree. Iron Man 2 should have had the Mandarin. Iron Man 1 was a good movie, not just a good comic movie. Iron Man 2 had its moments but was far inferior to the first one.

Yeah Kingsley would have looked better with a goatee and a shaved head, or a skull cap a la Ming the Merciless from Flash Gordon 1980. I mean Ben Kingsley is known for his bald head. But I am glad he is playing Mandarin, anyway.

The second one gets bagged on a lot, but it isn't awful. I just think the sum wasn't greater than its parts. Some good story elements, with some cool scenes, but, on the whole, that all didn't quite come together.

I agree. I think that a re-edit could probably improve it greatly

No it wasn't awful. And to be fair it captured the 1980s alcoholic Iron Man pretty well. I didn't even mind Vanko. But the ending with the drones and the Stark Expo transparently analogous to Disney World (curious timing considering Marvel is now owned by Disney), along with the Disney like 8MM films of Daddy Stark, plus the recast of Rhodes, just all rubbed me the wrong way.

The problem with 2 was if you go back and look at it, it makes no sense. Tony's father invented an element that would cure al his son's problems 30 years in advance, and instead of giving the design to Fury for safe keeping he randomly hides it in a map of a tech expo...wha?

What saves it though is that it's fun, and RDJ could act a page of the phone book and charm an audience. It's one of those movies that's fun to watch,, just don't try to make sense of it after the fact.

I was satisfied with the explanation that dad had the pieces, but lacked the technology to put it all together at the time. Also had no problem with this energy source being just what son needed to replace the energy source that was killing him.

The thing that bugged me about IM2 was that it just suddenly ended. Nothing was ever resolved. This whole plot point was set up where the government was on the verge of taking Tony's suits from him. What happened with that?

What I really liked about IM2 was how he spends a half hour noodling around in his office.

I didn't like War Machine's origin, just getting into one of Stark's old suits and being able to use it with no training (and no Jarvis?)

It was implied that Rhodes had used the suits before, and Stark was preparing to give the suits to Rhodes anyway, as he thought he was dying. Furthermore, Stark realized what he had become, what he'd done, and let Rhodey have the suit, hence why he was able to take it so easily.
