Crazy Political Status Updates from my Facebook news feed...

Ms. Spam was just reposting wall rubbish from Facebook, so I'm not sure why you're going after her.

Regarding Reagan: had the economy not started improving in 1983, there's a good chance he wouldn't have been re-elected, even against a twerp like Mondale. But it did improve his first term.

Also, the "moderate tax increase on businesses" quote should be placed in context. Reagan approved several modest tax increases during his presidency, but through ERTA and such, the overall tax burden on individuals and (especially) businesses was much reduced from what it was. That whole paragraph rubs me the wrong way, as it seems to imply "Reagan raised taxes and the economy got all better." But that might just be my own bugaboo, as I've been subjected to that talking point too many times lately.

Obama's first term sounds much like Regan's, economically speaking.
No.

This ain't morning in America. Not by a long shot.

Thanks Pong. It's all good. I mean the topic is crazy things posted on Facebook and I just posted a meme about Reagan but a lot of Far Righties do idolize Reagan even though he's a president who's still within living memory so it's easy to fact check. Maybe it was a reactionary thing as this is a topic harped on at Daily KOS and Huffingtonpost.com but I really was just thinking it was funny as it kept popping up in my news feed. At least five people in my circle of friends had posted that within an hour.

I saw one of those nonsensical "Heheh, Miss Me?" George W. Bush updates from a very unexpected person today. The image didn't even bother trying to get its facts straight either. Unfortunately, it looks like she's been razzed for it to the point of taking it down, so I can't repost it.

How is posting a picture with the singular statement I made talking bad about my friends? I am pretty sure my friends know my position concerning their political leanings.
I thought it was as good of a save as George could have made, personally... and in most cases, it's at least kinda true.

There are three people I'm still friends with on Facebook who know full well I think their political spewings are beyond retarded. One enjoys sparring with me and knows it's all in fun, one gets annoyed at the dismissive non-sequiturs I always post after his shrieks for "social justice," while the other is trying to gently convert me into "Christian Socialism" with much sweet talking.

But the updates I brought up weren't from them, they were from people who have no idea about my politics or sense of humor -- or that I'm talking about their Facebook updates here.

Smug shot heads who can't take a joke and use hash tags off twitter. Lol. What a clown.

I like you less and less. Didn't you used to be fun?

I mock these people to their faces as well, but I'm sure they would be glad to know that an anonymous forum member on a star wars website is anonymously sticking up for their anonymous crazy assed thoughts.

Anyway, someone just posted a picture of Paul Ryan with light shining down from above and a halo over his head. I just don't know how to copy images using the iPad.

People are getting so wound up about politics and telling people how to vote on Facebook right now.

****ing infuriating. November can't get here fast enough. And yes, Copper, so I'm not accused of sneaky backstabbery or passive aggressiveness, I've including your updates on my **** list.

The Democratic convention's in a few days. I don't believe both parties are "just the same," and that my vote doesn't really matter -- there really are major differences in both style and substance -- but one area in which "just the same" is absolutely true is in how they exaggerate, mislead, distort, and outright lie while campaigning. I can't wait for the same people who parsed every sentence at the GOP convention, going bat**** over all the "lies and distortions" (perceived and real) to suddenly become silent or even start rationalizing when the bull**** starts piling on from their own side.

By the flip side, it's going to be amusing seeing all the people who unobjectively spewed about how "brilliant" Ryan's speech was to start doing the same exact thing: picking apart each and every sentence spoken at the Democratic convention in order to heckle, delegitimize, or become "outraged" over the lies (the same type of lies they had no problem with only a week earler).

Why can't we just invoke gladiatorial combat for leadership and be done with it? I mean, we couldn't call it the Royal Rumble, because that would probably be unconstitutional, but you get the idea. It'd probably produce a better leader most years, too.

I wish I had thought to do that this week. Just to annoy the ultra-liberals. It's amazing how many there have been posting. But on the other hand, I didn't want the ultra-Republicans to think I approve of them.
