non-members get a month free. I think the plus members basically get a month credit on subscription

Wooo, what comprehensive compensation. Like I said before though - not too bothered about freebies.

It'd be nice to just get back on PSN so i can video call my family (they don't have a computer but they do have a ps3).

At this point the network has been down for 20 days. 30 days on PS = wooo, what comprehensive compensation. Like I said before though - not too bothered about freebies.

You need a PS eye camera.

Go across to chat on XMB, new chat, video, add or invite friend. Voila!

PSN is turning on by region. The process started 5 hours ago in the USA. Not all of the US is back up yet, but restoration is continuing.

New firmware is live and required. It can be downloaded via a connected PS3 or from the main website and then transferred with a USB stick.

PSN accounts require a new password and the process uses email verification, so we have to be patient for all the electronic mail to cycle.

For a moment I forgot you are there, DD. Hopefully service is on for you today sometime.

BTW the password change, in my case anyway, did not require email verfication. So the info I posted last night was either partially incorrect or they changed the process or I'm special.

Also even though I could log in last night, the PSN Store was still offline. Haven't checked this morning however.

I've been catching up on some older games that can be played standalone (Uncharted 2/ Assassin's Creed 2), but I will try to get online tonight and hopefully I can get on.

It's really nice that they are giving PSN users up to 4 free games as part of the apology. Granted, it's a really small list of available games, but still. I'll be getting Infamous and Little Big Planet for PSP. Not sure what other two I'll pick.

Think I'll get Wipeout and just call it a day. I have the others, except for Dead Nation and I have no interest in that. I'll probably check out the free movie rentals and PSHome stuff though.

Europe deal

Now that certain PSN services have been restored and you’re once again enjoying online gaming, it seems a good time to confirm what is being offered as part of the Welcome Back programme.

Once we restore PlayStation Store, which will be just a little while longer, you will have the opportunity to claim your Welcome Back gifts. Please note that the Welcome Back programme is only available for those countries with access to PlayStation Store*.

All existing PlayStation Network members will be able to access the following from PlayStation Store*:

Two PS3 games from the following list:

LittleBigPlanet
Infamous*
Wipeout HD/Fury
Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty
Dead Nation*
For those with PSP accounts, you will also be eligible to download two PSP games from the following list:

LittleBigPlanet PSP
ModNation PSP
Pursuit Force
Killzone Liberation*
- 30 days free PlayStation Plus membership for non PS Plus subscribers*

- Existing PlayStation Plus subscribers will be given 60 days free subscription.

- For existing Music Unlimited subscribers, you will be given 30 days free subscription.

- We are working on a Welcome Back offer in PlayStation Home and will share that when it is confirmed.

I would like to thank all of the developers and publishers involved in this programme for their support in making this happen. We certainly couldn’t have done it without you.

You will be able to access this content once PlayStation Store comes back online and we are doing everything we can to make that happen as soon as possible.

Thank you for your support and keep checking back on the blog for more information.

I'll probably get Ratchet and Clank and one of the other three that aren't LBP as I have that.

Time to do some researching on some games

but if it's free why not just get it and play it?

I was able to get online and change my password, but I was surprised that I hadn't gotten any type of pre-email telling me what to do prior to signing in.

PS Store is back. The Welcome Back freebies are live as well.

If you get this error 80710D36, read below:

It’s just a traffic issue. Not another attack. Everyone is trying to download at the same time. If a option in the store goes missing after you select it due to this traffic error, you can find how to download your items in the account management screen of the PS3/PSP's XMB.

If you start having problems after getting your free game pass do what THT suggests:

On your PlayStation 3 or PlayStation Portable navigate to the PlayStation Network icon on the XMB

Log into your PlayStation Network account and choose Account Management > Transaction Management > Services List

Choose “PlayStation Network Promotions” or similar item from the list of services displayed

Select either “PS3 Free Games” or “PSP Free Games” and then choose “Select Content”

You will be taken to the store to choose your remaining free games.

PS Home has 100 freebies, some really neat IMO. However getting them suffers from server traffic issues too.

There is a month to get your freebies, both games and Home stuff, so don't fret if the servers are hot right now.

I downloaded Zombie Nation and the Wipeout expansion pack today for the PS3. I also was able to download Killzone: Liberation and LBP, for the PSP, with no problems. Everything loaded pretty fast.

I actually lucked out & was able to get 4 free PS3 games & 2 free PSP games, due to the fact that I have 2 full accounts on my PS3. Well, one is my girlfriend's account, but I could play the games anyway. I already owned LBP & inFamous for the PS3 & LBP for the PSP. So, I got the Wipeout bundle pack, Dead Nation & Super Stardust. I also DL'd inFamous, just to have it on my HD. For the PSP, I got the Killzone game & Pursuit Force. I got to download Modnation Racers for the PSP, but I can't install it because it came through my 2nd account. I'm going to sign up for the Playstation Plus tomorrow & get some stuff through it as well as get my free stuff in Home. What a bargain! I did nothing but miss out on 2 weeks of Netflix & LBP2.

BTW, does anyone know the 100+ items from Home? Apparently, you have to go buy the stuff yourself. I found that you get the Dragon's Lair "home". It's very cool. I also got some little vinyl guy named Blue Skies that you can control & have him run around your homes. Meh.
