Top 20 NBA Players Ever

Dirk is a good rebounder though. He shares a record with Kareem as one of the only players to have over 30 points and 15 rebounds in 4 consecutive post season games.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Dirk Nowitski are the only players to achieve 4 consecutive 30-point, 15-rebound post-season games.

Moses Malone spent part of his career in the ABA and some of his stats are from 3 years in that league. I never watch basketball, or sports in general during the 70s, so the only part of Malone's career I saw was during the end of his career with the Hawks.

Dirk is for a power forward at best an average rebounder. Moses as I said is one of the greatest rebounders ever. He led the league 6 times. Dirk's career high in rebounding was 9.9. Moses had 13 seasons with a higher rebounding average than Dirk. Malone once averaged 31 pts and 15 rebounds a game.

Like I said, Dirk is a very good player but to compare him to Moses Malone is just silly. Would probably be fairer to compare him to Karl Malone and he's still not even that good.

Dirk has been a top 10 Power Forward in rebounding for most of his career. During the 2013-2014 season he was ranked #6, at just 2.8 rebounds less than Tim Duncan. Considering that Moses Malone played the center position, he should easily have more rebounds than any Power Forward that ever played the game.

On the offensive side of the ball, Dirk way outclasses Moses Malone. He was one of the highest percentage free throwers in the league and had the highest completion percentage of any player during 1 season of his career. The Mavs have had over a decade of playoff appearances with Dirk mostly carrying the load, which in itself is pretty amazing. Even the greatness of Kobe Bryant hasn't achieved such a feat.

Dirk is an ok rebounder. His rebounding totals are high because he plays so many minutes. But even if we give him credit for being a "good" rebounder, that still pales in comparison to Malone who is one of the 5 or so greatest rebounders ever.

His shared playoff record with Kareem suggests otherwise. He's been a top 10 rebounder for quite some time, and that says a lot considering the position he plays.

He also holds the NBA playoff record of a perfect 24 free-throws.

He also owns a record that nobody has touched. http://www.dw.com/en/nowitzki-sets-historic-nba-record/a-18340518

Moses Malone also played over 45,000 minutes during his career. His minutes played weren't that much different from what Dirk has played.

Malone averaged 13.0 rebounds per 36 minutes, Dirk averaged 8.1.

Yes, but when it comes to the playoffs, Dirk holds a record that is only shared with one player and that is the great Kareem Abdul Jabar.

Dirk is going to be in the top 5 in scoring, by the time his career is over. He will also be in the top 25 rebounders of all-time. He is a more complete player than Moses Malone was.
