Oh I'm not talking about you man, that was more an inside joke to the stuff I always see at Newsarama and other places. Seems like whenever there's a comic book movie being made his name is immediately thrown into the hat.

Although, comparatively, Fillion would make a better WW than Yelchin would make a Hal Jordan. WTF.

True. Him and, lately, Aaron Eckhart (who would be a good Captain America). :D

You know what, Wally? I can see where you're coming from. For me, it's hard to cast certain superheroes for live-action movies. Never in a million years would I have thought of Robert Downey, Jr. for Tony Stark...but he was great. I can't think of many actors for Superman, either. Probably because, to me, no one can top Christopher Reeve.

And, honestly, I can't quite think of anyone who fits Hal EXACTLY...or my idea of him, rather. The closest I can come is Nathan Fillion. After thinking about it, though, he wouldn't be perfect. I always think back to how Gil Kane used Paul Newman as a visual basis for Hal. Maybe it needs to be someone who resembles Paul Newman? (I can think of no one.)

I don't know. Maybe they'll surprise us the same way they did with Downey, Jr.

Location and director confirmed

The Mt Druitt Standard reports that New South Wales premier Nathan Rees has confirmed that Warner Bros. Pictures will shoot Green Lantern at Fox Studios Australia in Sydney later this year (previous reports said in September). GoldenEye, The Legend of Zorro and Casino Royale helmer Martin Campbell will direct.

Pretty sure that you would need an agent.

If you are wondering about extras, then there will probably be a cattle call for that when the time is needed.

It's official: Variety reports the winner is...

--> Ryan Reynolds!

Warners and Campbell chose Reynolds, who vied for the superhero role along with “The Hangover” star Bradley Cooper and Jared Leto. The momentum built for Reynolds in the last week, as he was the only actor whose option was extended.

Deadpool can't be Green Lantern! That's too weird.

I was certain he'd play The Flash someday (he even said he wanted to), but hey...this works for me too.

By the time a Flash movie ever materialized now, they'd probably go with Barry Allen anyway considering he will have been back in the role for a while, and Reynolds would have only made a good Wally West. So it works out.

Never saw Wolverine and have no plans too, and know nothing about Deadpool so probably wouldn't see that either, so I'd have no character crisis to worry about, heh.

Deadpool is Marvel. Green Lantern is DC. It's not like they'd ever have to meet or anything. It's not like Ryan Reynolds is in two Marvel movies... oh wait....

I actually like Reynolds as an actor, but I'm just hoping they don't make him too funny. He can do well in serious roles, as he did in Adventureland, so I hope the filmmakers recognize that.

I highly approve of this casting. Totally unexpected and it never even occurred to me that Ryan Reynolds would or should even be considered for Hal, but I think it's awesome. I'm totally on board for it. You all have no idea how happy this makes me. I've been waiting for a Green Lantern movie my whole life and for them to cast someone as awesome as Reynolds...I'm extremely happy. The only down side is that we have to wait until 2011.

Bring it on! B-)

I approve. Reynolds must like comic books, he expressed interest in a Flash movie, he played Deadpool in the Wolverine movie and will headline DP's own flick, and now he's a Green Lantern. This movie has the potential to be so damn good, they better not **** it up.

The aM radio show I listen to in LA had a hilarious bit the other morning. Not even a bit really asit was legit. Their entertainment news guy is a comic fan, and was excited about the film. Everyone else had never heard of GL since he's not a spider-Mn or Superman. So the more that was explained he more they thought he was making it up.

It was pretty funny-- to somebody who's never heard a bit about GL the premise could sound pretty ridiculous.

Don't get me wrong, I love Green Lantern Comics. I like Ryan Reynolds comedies, but as Green Lantern? I'm not sure. What sort of film is this going to be? a comedy or serious action? When i think of Reynolds I can't help but think that he'll make it into a comedy.

Is he making a career of just ruining comic book adaptations?

Blade Trinity : Sucked
Wolverine : Overwhelmingly Sucked

If Martin Campbell wasn't making this, I'd give it a pass. But I suppose I'm not totally against Ryan since he's likable enough.
