Cerina
I'm working on the new Sookie book until I can get a physical copy of NiC, I only have an e-version at the moment.
HANFAN
I'm reading Twins! by some doctor people. I just finished Conn Iggulden's "Wolf of the Plains".. Is that one about Genghis Khan? I read the first one in the series and really liked it!
Cashmere
Sounds like an appropriate choice, HANFAN. I'm just over halfway done with the Dresden Files: Proven Guilty. I read a few chapters before getting up this morning, and I was so close to calling in sick to finish it.
Yossarian
Just started Men at Arms by Evelyn Waugh. He is better I think when serious rather than frivolous, but it's enjoyable nonetheless.

Yossarian
I think it might have been a popular boy's name back in the day (he was born in 1903) Also the pronunciation is like level rather than evil.
Copper
How odd! It's amazing how the dynamics of naming children can change in just 100 years.
Copper
I've decided to go back and reread most of The Dresden Files. I'm starting with book 3 because I remember book one wasn't great, two I have on disc, but three (Grave Peril) hasn't been read since the first time I got into the series, some five years ago. I picked up the first one. I haven't read a genre series in ages and everyone says Dresden is the cat's meow. You saying I shouldn't judge on book 1 alone? Copper
it's GOOD but it's obvious that he's a beginning writer- they start getting REALLY good around book 3, at least imo. I know there are plenty of other people here who loved them from the get go.

Iceheart
I've decided to go back and reread most of The Dresden Files. I picked up the first one. I haven't read a genre series in ages and everyone says Dresden is the cat's meow. You saying I shouldn't judge on book 1 alone? I thought it was good - the literary equivilent of a popcorn movie. Yeah, it's a little rough around the edges, but it captured my attention. The second was a bit of a letdown, and I haven't carved time out for the third yet.
Copper
rough around the edges is exactly right- Harry Dresden is his wise-cracking sarcastic self, but while you're reading it you can kinda feel the plot threads being dragged together into the ending. Cashmere
Maybe I like my plot threads dragged together. Or maybe I should go back and read the first few again before defending them too strongly.
Kokeshi_Doll769
lol...I'm soooo behind on The Dresden Files it's shameful. I'm currently reading a book called Tanglewreck...it's quite the kick in the pants. The author is doing some very unique and atypical things with the idea of Time. Hammurabi-Sith
I am currently reading "Boneman's daughters" by Ted Dekker. So far it's pretty good. It is about a serial killer who breaks peoples bones without puncturing the skin. The main character just got caught by terrorists in Iraq and is now being forced to make a very hard choice and it's pretty intense.
Iceheart
So, I'm actually reading Charlaine Harris' Dead Until Dark. And I haven't written my finals yet

Iceheart
Not quite. This is finals week for the spring course, and next week starts the 6-week summer course. I'm completely done (as in I get my diploma and everything) come August I didn't expect this past 6 weeks to be so intense, tho.
Obi-Wan Cannoli
Currently reading "Contemporary American Novelists of the Absurd" by Charles Harris. Chapters are dedicated to some of my favorite authors: Kurt Vonnegut, Joseph Heller, and Thomas Pynchon. They're not really contemporary any more, but the book is great. Doze
I'm reading 'Star Wars: Solo Command' again as I wait for 'Phule's Company' a book that I read @ 92 and loved it. I gave it away a long time ago and just found out that it was the first of a series. So I am now starting over can't wait!!!
Obi-Wan Cannoli
I like the cover art. Would you call it serious science fiction or humorous science fiction? If it's humorous, I might give it a try. I haven't read a good sci-fi/comedy in a while. I don't think I'd enjoy a book with that kind of cover art if it took itself too seriously, though.
