It's been a while so let's go ahead get rolling on this even though the poetry contest isn't finished yet.

Deadline: Noon, EST, May 30th.

Prize: Writing Software (estimated value at $30). I'm still shopping around and comparing values so once I know the best one I'll list the brand name and whatnot.

NOTE: This is the last individual contest before the huge Summer Tri Task Tournament, so the top three vote getters will receive a special clue to help them prepare for that tournment.

Topic: Numbers. Time, date, money, age ... all that and more involve numbers. Some part of your story has to involve numbers.

Hey, some of us have plans over the weekend! :P I don't think I will get a chance to 1. come up with an idea or 2. write it.

I think this might have been a mistake. Only because I know SD is super busy all the way through sunday so I doubt he'll have time to be online on the 20th to call the competition at noon.

So I'm not going to freak out.

YET.

(ps omg my avatar looks awesome on this background)

I'm a bit confused. Do the numbers have to be a prominent plot point or something we can just mention in detail?

Your avatar looks awesome anyway, Copper ;) (yum!)

Not sure I'll get a chance to participate either. No plans this weekend as such, but I'm supposed to be working on a story for a competition, and I'm already behind schedule on it

Ah, that's better. Sorry, I've been beyond braindead lately. Hyuck!

To answer your question, Chatham, numbers can be involved to whatever level you dictate. What I'm going to try to do is find a really creative way to include numbers rather than just the time of day or a person's age, but whatever floats your personal boat.

Also, just to clarify about the writing software, I'm not talking about Word for windows or something. I'm talking about something much more useful. :D

okay. i have some questions.
has anyone every read stephen king's all that you love will be carried away?
Spoiler! --Click here to view--
dudes. this may or may not give away the ending to that story so you better not b**** when you click this.
Spoiler! --Click here to view--
i wrote my own ending to it (i have severval) and could i/should i use that?
this story is something i've always dreamed of filming and setting to pink floyd.
maybe this is too complicated for the internet.

Which Pink Floyd song?

Personally, I rather see you write something more creative and original (:flirt:) than submit an old Stephen King fan fic.

But it's Dex's contest, and if he's fine with it...

(BTW, I'm in.... just as soon as I can think of something. :P )

dark side of the moon in full. i already have it filmed in my head, and play it out every time i listen to the album.

the thing is, i would totally write something original, but i have to write a 26-28 page screen play.
the longest thing i ever wrote was around 12-18 pages, mostly dialogue.
plus i don't really need writing software, NOT that i'm not being ungrateful, dexypooh.
maybe i do need it and just don't know it?

I don't know. I've found the software very useful, but it's not for everyone. We'll just have to see, won't we.

I have no problem with your plagiarism, by the way. Just so long as the judges punish you properly for it. :P

My entry is up: http://forums.nightl...showtopic=49708

I actually have another idea I want to try and write between now and the deadline that is a different way to use numbers. If I finish it in time I'll post that as well. :pimp:

Talk about being between Scylla and Charybdis... writing for this contest, working the next six days in a row and preparing for Script Frenzy with nary an idea. I'll see what I can scrape up, literally.

Yeah this one is proving difficult for me. Every time I think of something I lose the plot and have to start over. I really can't nail this one down. Thanks Dex!

I look forward to reading these two when I get time. :D

Best I could come up with.

That would make an awesome title for a short story collection.
