Contest #4 Vote!
Posted 24 April 2007 - 06:04 AM
I'd like to take a moment and welcome Mara Jade Skywalker and Angylkat to this, their first contest. Your entries were moist excellent and I hope this isn't the only time you enter a contest.
Looking ahead, we know what the next contest will be but I wanted to float out a test balloon for the one after that, which is at least two weeks away. What do you guys think of the idea of a poetry writing contest? Would enough of you enter to make it worth doing?

As for the contest:
1st place goes to Copper in "Now You're Alive," for excellent form, the most description, a great plot, and all that other writer-stuff that makes a story win 1st place.
2nd goes to LadyGuinevere in "Lullabye Bay," for creating the most emotion and making me want to hunt down a bad father and shoot him in the back of the head with his own vodka bottle.
...I have an odd feeling that this contest might turn out just like the last one. Possibly even worse. I'm betting that we've got at least two ties by the end of it.

edit: I'm certainly down for a poetry contest. But I'm sure my whole thread will consist of, "I don't get it," because of how I write my poetry

Speaking of which, Mara asked about the voting deadline. I also forgot to mention when that was, so let's make it 48 hours after this thread was posted. Since a lot of these stories were posted early I think that's plenty of time to catch up on your reading and to vote.
Hey, Dex, how come you're not in the best story catagory?
Opps! I guess I forgot to include my story for the first category. Darn it!

I planned on reading all of these but I never got around to it, so I'm just voting based on who I like the most right now.
That's a little unfair don't you think? You have plenty of time to read them and vote for the story you like, so why not do that? Or don't vote at all. This isn't a popularity contest.

A poetry contest would be super! Though I don't have the talent for it, I have come to enjoy writing poetry and already have a number written that I can choose from...or write another.

Try it some time before you critisize me.
Posted 24 April 2007 - 03:12 PM
i read the stories.
i never criticized you.
i'm refraining from doing so now because this is the book club.

A poetry contest sounds like a really good idea, though I doubt I'll enter, as it's really not my medium. It would be nice to see a contest for a different writing skill though
