Not a huge Dr Who fan or anything, not seen every episode this season, but the finale was really good. I was happy to see the regeneration scene, I'd read ages ago Ecclestone wouldn't be doing it so I was surprised.

Errrr Wow!

That episode was great. Loads of stuff finally explained.

****SPOILERS*****

Rose was Bad Wolf?? That was unexpected. And it was she who set all of the letters across Time and Space to set herself a message to go back and save the Doctor

Looking into the TARDIS allows her to destroy the Daleks. Ever since the Margaret episode I wondered about it, whether it would be used to end the Time War once and for all. Of course, we all know its not over...

The Dalek emperor. Woah. He survived the Inferno and created new Daleks from the dead. During one time you feel very sympathetic towards the Dalek.

Nice to see Jack's development through the five episodes, though I'm not sure about the kiss....

Now the long wait till Christmas...

1 word - Quality!

SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Dalek Emperor was great, really goading the Doctor that he is not much different than them if he hits that button.

Loved the rescue at the beginning of the episode - he makes it look so easy!! That first couple of minutes was top with the missiles locked on to the Tardis.

Nice touch with the Doctor's acting that he had a plan to get extra power, when all he was doing was sending Rose back home.

The regeneration was nice - different to have him say goodbye and sort of prepare Rose for what is coming, and it was kinda sad. I can see a lot of kids would be upset at losing "their Doctor".

The 10th Doctor looks like he will be good - he reminded me of Bill Nighy when he was speaking - you know, that guy from Love Actually and Shaun of the Dead.

At least Captain Jack survived - leaves it open for his return in a future episode. He is a good character, and you can see his development from being a con-man who is only thinking of himself when we first meet him, to sacrificing himself to save the universe. Luckily Rose was supercharged enough to bring him back!

I still would have preferred him to get back on the Tardis and see the regeneration with Rose.

Can't wait for Xmas!!!

Hi all

The 'Christmas Invasion'? What does that mean? Daleks or Cybermen or what?

The last episode was pretty good. thumbs_u The whole series is pretty much one complete story.

Me and my friend still thought it was going to be Davros; but it wasn't. Where is Davros now anyway?

What happens to the Fourth Great and Bountiful Human Empire? The Doctor has changed history; how is he going to fix it?

I thought the Time vortex inside the Tardis was going to affect the story and it did. I'm glad I spotted that one.

Now I have seen Volume 2 I understand how closely the Doctor is involved in the Time War. No wonder he's always acting so crazy when he killed his own people to stop the Daleks!

Which raises another question: why did the Doctor hesitate to push the switch when the Daleks came when he was quite capable of sacrificing the Time Lords? Remorse? Guilt?

The Doctor didn't really look as if he was dying at the end. Yes, I saw the Time energy inside his body but he was still bouncing around. I thought the scene could have been sold better if it had been acted differently.

Perhaps he did it as a form of redemption?

I was never a fan of Doctor Who before the new series began, but I've been really into it... And although I think Tennant will make a great Doctor, I'm kinda sad that Eccelston only did one series, would've been nice if they could get him to stick around a little longer...

Hi all

I agree there. Ecclestone was good. I'll miss him. Not sure how Tennant will work out as I haven't seen much of him yet.

Since Series One was a big arc involving the Daleks/events leading up to the Dalek invasion, I'm going to hazard a guess that Series Two will be a build up to an invasion by the Cybermen!

How, where and when do you think Captain Jack will return? It seems he was deliberately standed on the space station (not by the Doctor, though). Will the space station and the Fourth Great Human Empire appear again in future stories? I'm betting that they will!

I suppose it makes sense - I had thought that it was an xmas special with the second series proper coming at the same sort of time as this year - March.

Whatever though, I am lookign forward to seeing how the 10th Doctor settles in.

Filming has started on the second series:

-------

Christmas comes early for Doctor Who.

David Tennant today steps into the role of the tenth Time Lord, as filming commences on the highly anticipated Christmas special and second series of Doctor Who for BBC ONE.

Billie Piper returns as the Doctor's feisty young companion, Rose Tyler, and together they will travel through time and space battling new and returning aliens and monsters.

David Tennant says of his striking new look: "I think we've come up with something distinctive that's both timeless and modern, with a bit of geek chic and of course, a dash of Time Lord! Most importantly Billie tells me she likes it – after all she's the one who has to see me in it for the next nine months! "

Billie Piper, who will star alongside Tennant in the Christmas special and all 13 episodes in series two, says: "I'm thrilled to be stepping back into the role of Rose. We plan to make series two even bigger and better and challenge the viewers' imaginations like never before. Wait until you get a load of the new doctor!"

Russell T Davies, writer and Executive Producer, adds: "We were delighted and honoured by the first series' success, and we can promise new thrills, new laughs, new heartbreak, and some terrifying new aliens. The Doctor and Rose are destined to meet Queen Victoria, an evil race of Cat Women, and the dreaded Cybermen. 2006 is going to be scarier than ever!"

Filming of the 60 minute Christmas episode kicks off in London and continues in various locations across Wales, predominantly in Cardiff. Christmas becomes a time of terror for Planet Earth, as the whole of mankind falls under the shadow of the alien Sycorax. Rose needs the Doctor's help, but can she trust a man with a new face?

''The human race falls under the shadow of the Sycorax''

Sycorax is one of the moons of Uranus discovered in 1997...bit of a joke going on there I think?
