I guess so - that's what I meant by getting half of it - I pretty much knew it was Jeter. But couldn't guess the other one. I knew it wasn't A-Rod - that whancker won't make guest appearances in SJ - his agent turned us down the last time.

Here are some facts and figures up to the most recent SJ (SJ XXXIV) ...

UPDATE:

I was wondering about how often Daily Doubles are offered in games...and here is what I found out...

There have been a total 95 Daily Doubles offered in 34 games for an average of 2.79 Daily Doubles per game.

The most Daily Doubles ever offered in one game was a whopping 7 of them in SJ 11.

Here is the break down...

1 time 7 Daily Doubles have been offered (SJ 11)

6 times 5 Daily Doubles have been offered (SJ 05 - SJ 07, SJ 14, SJ 15, and SJ 19)

3 times 4 Daily Doubles have been offered (SJ 01, SJ 21, SJ 28)

10 times 3 Daily Doubles have been offered (SJ 02, SJ 08, SJ 12, SJ 16, SJ 22, SJ 27, SJ 30 - SJ 33)

5 times 2 Daily Doubles have been offered (SJ 09, SJ 10, SJ 18, SJ 24, SJ 34)

6 times 1 Daily Double has been offered (SJ 04, SJ 17, SJ 20, SJ 25, SJ 26, SJ 29)

3 times 0 Daily Doubles have been offered (SJ 03, SJ 13, SJ 23)

You can start Game 35 whenever you want. You have all the stuff I sent in the prepackaged superduper-insured ultra-class mail pak.

Here are the streaks for placing in 1st...

Pharoah JZA : 4 (01, 02, 03, 10)

Darth Wicket : 4 (09, 11, 12, 13)

Darth Wicket : 4 (23, 27, 28, 34)

Nomaa Jedi Piarra : 3 (29, 30, 31)

Darth Irish : 2 (05, 06)

Darth Irish : 2 (17, 19)

Darth Wicket : 2 (18, 20)

I don't quite get this one - does this mean that Pharoah JZA participated in SJs 1-3, did not participate in SJs 4-9, and did participate in 10?

Yep...I was curious about streaks of placing third or higher and winning in games contestants participated in, since some contestants take a break (either to host or taking a break all together) and then come back to play. Also, the rule of not playing after winning 3 in a row prevents anyone from winning 4 in a row or even placing 3rd or higher (if you count all games, not just those participated in by one contestant).

  • 2 weeks later...

This thread is actually a discussion and record archive for a trivia game in the Sports forum that is currently in its 34th or 35th installment.

See: http://forums.nightly.net/index.php?showto...9110&st=400

There are some other jeopardy games in some of the other forums, such as the Movie Forum, Star Wars forum, and Book Club forum.

Primbud would like to have a jeopardy for each forum as some point.

I say we add '1' to each of those and call it our version of the deadball-era ERA.

SJ 07 - Darth Wicket

That's impressive - hitting 100% of clues attempted [en route to a title] - kinda like SleepinGiant in DWs Viva La Guess the Movie thread in the Movies Forum. I'm sure there are others who've hit on 100% in a game but didn't win that game.

The Clues Incorrect Per Game stat for all champions in their championship games is 2.57.

That's quite high - just goes to show, 'try it'.

Only 2 rounds in SJ history have had 0 clues incorrect.

SJ 03 Round 1

SJ 09 Round 1

Hmmm ...

There have been a total of 185 clues incorrect in the 1st round, 129 in the 2nd round

That's fascinating - one would think the second round ought to have the tougher clues. Perhaps it does and contestants underestimate the opening round?

The most clues incorrect in one game are

1. SJ 23 - 17

2. SJ 14 - 16

3. SJ 21 - 15

Interesting that SJ13 (three rounds and a Final) isn't listed. Wasn't SJ23 the other one with a 'Triple Jeopardy' round?

I say we add '1' to each of those and call it our version of the deadball-era ERA.

That could be done, but when I was thinking it over, I actually liked the clues correct percentage stat better. If a contestant shows up for a game, but does nothing, that would make their avg go down since they are logged in an extra game. They don't have to attempt any response either. The clues correct percentage could have a minimum of 25 clues correct instead of 3 games. Once you get some clues incorrect, you still have to attempt responses to make your percentage go up. That is not the case with the avg, although it is still a fun stat to keep.

Yeah, there are plenty of others who hit 100% in a game, but did not win. A lot of them just have a couple of clues correct for the game and that is it. I am working on adding clues incorrect to my program, and I am going to try and calculate most clues correct in a game with 0 clues incorrect. I think that should be an interesting stat to look at. Also, the feat of hitting 100% of clues attempted en route to a title has been done twice outside of SJ...

BCJ 01 - bonnie13

MJ 03 - Nomaa Jedi Piarra

That is still only 5 times in 46 Jeopardy games.

That's quite high - just goes to show, 'try it'.

Yep, I agree. I was kind of surprised at some of the championship games. In fact, I believe I hold the record for most clues incorrect in a game at 8 in SJ 23.

Interesting that SJ13 (three rounds and a Final) isn't listed. Wasn't SJ23 the other one with a 'Triple Jeopardy' round?

Yes SJ 23 was the other 3 round game and SJ 13 actually only had 8 clues incorrect. I don't count Final Jeopardy in this stat, just like I don't count FJ in the clues correct stat; however, incorrect Daily Doubles are still counted in this stat just like they are for clues correct.
