Current Boston Red Sox ace Curt Schilling has been invited to appear on Celebrity Jeopardy for the upcoming 23rd campaign of the hit answer-and-question gameshow Jeopardy. The taping is scheduled to take place at New York Citys Radio City Music Hall during the time the American League Division Series is scheduled ...

As you might have realized from this thread, they've gone to some fascinating repeats. But should return to new action in the first week of September.

I think there's a problem with some of my stats.

There's no problem...at the top of the post, I mentioned...

As the most recent SJ (SJ XXIX) has concluded, I have decided to do another stats update, but this time, I will compare stats for SJ champions in their championship games only.

I am only compiling the stats for SJ champions in their championship games. Therefore...

JZA's stats are compiled from SJs I, II, III, and X

Pat Bowen's stats are compiled from SJ IV.

Darth Irish's stats are compiled from SJs V, VI, VIII, XV, XVII, XIX, XXI, and XXVI.

Primbud's stats are compiled from SJ VII.

My stats are compiled from SJ VII, SJ IX, SJ XI, SJ XII, SJ XIII, SJ XVI, SJ XVIII, SJ XX, SJ XXIII, SJ XXVII, and SJ XXVIII.

And your stats would be compiled from SJ XXV.

If you are curious about any other combinations of games you or other people participated in and specific stats from those games, just ask and I will try my best to compile the stats.

I wrote a computer program to compile all the stats from a history file that I manually update after every game. The history file contains all the stats and the program can compile all the career stats, records, etc.

The cool part is that if you just want to look at a certain set of games, you can just put those games into the history file and rerun the program. Eventually, I would like to leave every game in one history file and have a configuration file that would specify what combinations of games to compile the career stats and records for.

Since this program saves me some time, I have been keeping track of some new records. For example, just recently, I have added records for :

Contestants With Lowest Score After Round 1 To Still Finish in At Least 3rd Place

Contestants With Lowest Score After Round 1 To Still Win the Game

Highest Game Scores Without Winning

Highest After Round 1 Scores Without Winning

Highest Number of Clues Correct in a Game Without Winning

Next, I would like to add...

Lowest Number of Clues Correct in a Game To Still Win

Lowest Game Score to Still Win (although I already know the #1 spot will be NJP in SJ XXII, I still am curious to see the #2-#10 spots)

I also got rid of the Power Rankings and made the Adjusted Power Rankings the regular rankings. The difference before was that power rankings would award points to players who finished with a score of zero or less, but I decided that if a player did not finish with a positive score, then they should not be awarded the power ranking points (this was how Adjusted Power Ranking points worked).

Is anyone curious about another stat? Any stats from any combination of games? Anything you can dream up and I will try to see if I can compile it.

I think I have an idea where I'll rank in some of those already. ;)

As for the power rankings, since we allow players to get back to Respectability by wagering on their negative amount to get back to zero, I believe if they do get back to zero and therefore got the Final correct, they should get something. It's the ones that remain in the negative even after the Final that should be penalized in the power rankings, as it's the compensation for keeping their score from actually getting worse:

Example 1:

Austin is at -2000 before FJ.

Austin risks 2000 in FJ in an attempt to back to 0.

Austin gets FJ correct and returns to 0.

Example 2:

UKLK is at -2000 before FJ.

UKLK risks 0 because he wants to keep his career scoring (PerGame) average up and thinks he will get FJ wrong, so if he risks 2000, he might end up with -4000. This way, he only will end up -2000 the worst.

So, if a player has a negative score and gets the Final right, they should be awarded some points? And if a player has a negative score, they should be penalized? How about the old days where someone with a score of 0 at the end of round 2 was allowed to wager? Should they receive points or be penalized for getting the Final right or wrong?

Right now, the way I calculate Power Rankings is very simple.

3 points for a first place finish, 2 points for a second place finish, and 1 point for a third place finish.

I have been thinking about giving more weight to a first place finish...for example

First Place = 5 points

Second Place = 3 points

Third Place = 1 point

By the way, can anyone guess the Contestant With the Lowest Score After Round 1 To Still Finish in At Least 3rd Place?
