  1. My favorite Star Trek score is Jerry Goldsmith's for ST:TMP Highlander's original music by Michael Kamen is great too
  2. this place needs a ton of work too https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/4409-Riverside-Dr-Juneau-AK-99801/230756011_zpid/ *edit* this is what it (and its plot) looked liked before the flood from the glacier lake upstream hit it last August https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/4409-N-Riverside-Dr-Juneau-AK-99801/2116311307_zpid/
  3. some nice time capsule stuff there I'd keep a lot of it but must cost a fortune to heat
  4. Hearing people murder it is the best thing about it (same for God Save The King), so I'm all for that I haven't made it to the end of Fergie's 2018 NBA one yet
  5. I got tricked in to boarding a Spirit flight once When I realized this and asked the pilot where we were flying to, they got distracted and we crashed into another plane
  6. My like or dislike or a trope usually depends on if it is done well or not; if I dislike one it is usually because I'm expected to be impressed by the trope itself instead of the use of the trope as a means of creating compelling characters or drama I like origin stories, often because it's the most interesting thing about a lot of characters for me Facing death with dignity (as per TVtropes) is one I like. Commander Kril in The Last Starfighter is my reference for that one.
  7. This might cause some senseless arguments, or would have done in the past Ghostbusters 1984 Ghostbusters 2016 Ghostbusters II Ghostbusters: Afterlife Based on how likely they are to distract me from whatever I am doing if they appear on free-to-air TV
  8. My younger brother (I have four brothers, two older and two younger) and his family got a dog a couple of years ago and one of my parents regularly walks a friend's dog and I often see that one too Both nice dogs and I like to indulge them for an hour or two (and am usually interested in other people's dogs if they are well behaved and not a stupid breed), but the thought of owning either or them or any other dog terrifies me, especially because of the low IQ toddler aspect and everything else My youngest brother and his partner also have a dog, but not much for longer and they won't be getting another one when it dies because they want to have a dog-free life My nephew (younger brother's son) doesn't like dogs at all, but his partner either has or used to have one (would be / would have been a family dog) and would like to get another; watching them try to work this difference of opinion out is funny I'm definitely a cat person, although I couldn't cope with the expense of owning one
  9. I haven't seen it yet, but I did rewatch Battle Beyond the Stars on YouTube last week "You've never seen a Valkyrie go down" (The Magnificent Seven was also on free TV over Xmas)
  10. One trope I rarely like any more is chosen ones and prophecies
  11. I had a small hope that it might so-bad-its-good bad, even though that's unlikely from Snyder
  12. A remake of Battle Beyond the Stars, cool
  13. almost half of the population of Gaza is under 18 (and also too young to have voted in the 2006 election), so it's not surprising that almost half of the fatalities are under 18
  14. The Final Countdown is another lesser known one Somewhere in Time too The faceless angels and their enslaver in Les Maitres du Temps are nightmare fuel The Biggles movie was just called Biggles in the UK. I watched it a lot.
  15. Oops, quoted myself instead of editing, but might as well mention Masters of the Universe (1987) Frank Langella's Skeletor is amazing
  16. That was released as Remo: Unarmed and Dangerous over here Chiun is hilarious, and I'm not going to let the yellowface lower my opinion of Joel Grey (same for the problematic stuff in Temple of Doom, just don't do it again and focus on the awesomeness of Indy cutting the bridge) Eliminators is probably terrible, but probably very watchable too The villain's ambition is interesting, and one of the actor's daughters played Jane Banks in Mary Poppins His other daughter was married to Edward Woodward, and best known to UK audiences from playing Betty Spencer
  17. I have heard of it (usually "it's bad" stuff), but haven't seen it But you asking about it has reminded me of Ladyhawke (1985), which is good
  18. yes, definitely during the night
  19. deep / interstellar space is very cold, 3 kelvins (-270 C) space near Earth varies between over 100 C and -100 C depending on the amount of shade from the sun the speeders weren't capable of space flight (possibly high altitude flight too) and were probably designed to be used in the habitable regions of Earthlike planets, so would need modifications for use somewhere that is like Antarctica or worse wherever you go
  20. Some less well known 80s movies I watched often: Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone (1983) Starchaser: The Legend of Orin (1985) Eliminators (1986)
  21. Horner did the score for Battle Beyond the Stars too, lots of familiar elements there I need to give Krull another go, but I don't think it has a particular standout thing that makes me love so many of these films and forgive their flaws, like Tim Curry / Darkness in Legend My favorite thing in Krull is the crystal / albino spider part
  22. A unicycle is better than a bicycle in some ways for compact / portable personal transport, but most people can't ride normal unicycles so the electric self-balancing ones are ba-dum-tish revolutionary I'm only angry with shirtless unicycle guy because he's cycling around pedestrians, something I stopped doing on a bicycle ages ago. The nearest cycle / walker path to me isn't that wide and I always dismount if I need to overtake pedestrians Lots of cyclists like to complain about dangerous drivers and I agree with them, but they can also be very dismissive when pedestrians complain about cyclists getting too close
  23. I know what bike model (and its year) he has and what it would have cost new (but I doubt he paid list price for his), but would knowing that make your anxiety worse? This sounds like the cycling equivalent of walking out in front of a car, making it stop, and then throwing yourself on the hood to extort money. Horrible. Another reason for getting a dash cam.
