  1. Has anyone seen this ball before?

    ?

Apologies I meant to insert a picture which was too big earlier...it seems a smaller version also did not show up. How can I insert pictures from my laptop?

There might be an easier way (which I don't know), but you could upload the picture(s) to an image hoster and then use the URL to display the picture(s).

  2. The name "The Albert" is due to a funny peculiarity of Cockney (a variety spoken in London) or its rhyming slang feature, respectively:

"Rhyming Slang phrases are derived from taking an expression which rhymes with a word and then using that expression instead of the word. For example the word "look" rhymes with "butcher's hook". In many cases the rhyming word is omitted - so you won't find too many Londoners having a "bucher's hook" at this site, but you might find a few having a "butcher's".

The rhyming word is not always omitted so Cockney expressions can vary in their construction, and it is simply a matter of convention which version is used."

    examples:

English: Feet Rhymes with: Plates of meat Cockney: Plates

English: Teeth Rhymes with: Hampstead Heath Cockney: Hampsteads

English: Arms Rhymes with: Chalk Farms Cockney: Chalk Farms

English: Head Rhymes with: Loaf of bread Cockney: Loaf

So, in this case: The Albert Hall rhymes with soccer ball turns into The Albert.
